    LOADED 2007 22' Cruiser, $35,000, Seattle area

Wow, looks like the boat has sold already. I was amazed by the response, and am glad to report that the dory will stay in the Pacific Northwest where I might see her on the water! If anything changes I'll post again, and thanks to you all. This has been a great community for many years! Best, Ben

    LOADED 2007 22' Cruiser, $35,000, Seattle area

Harvey, you're making me want to not sell it! Yes, I have loved the twins and particularly the etecs. Such easy motors to live with. When I lost the trim tab pump last year, I could still get a good amount of roll adjustment with just the motors. When you get them both running the same rpm, it's...

    LOADED 2007 22' Cruiser, $35,000, Seattle area

Thanks Harvey, yes, tandem axle, and still using the boat until it sells! A HUGE correction: engine hours are 466 today, not 1,025! One hour meter lost its battery one winter, and reads 0255.0 because it reset. I glanced the other day and saw 1025.5. Oops. The hour meter that is accurate...

    LOADED 2007 22' Cruiser, $35,000, Seattle area

2007 C-Dory 22' Cruiser, "Big Blue" US$35,000 Overview: I am the second owner of this great boat. I am selling to upgrade to a Ranger tug, and will greatly miss this boat! She does it all: cruising, fishing, crabbing, shrimping, exploring tide pools and shallows, sightseeing, day trips, etc...

E-tec 50 shift rod screw stuck

Hey Larry! Not sure why, but I didn't see your post before. Yes, the screw with the smooth pilot was in fact the one that was stuck. Thanks for taking the time to post the manual page! Talk soon, bmc

E-tec 50 shift rod screw stuck

Well, a followup for posterity. The short version: all is well and we got out again on Sat/Sun for crab. The long version: am I ever glad for the list, and for decades of working on old VWs. The stuck fastener was on the starboard motor. My niece is visiting from CO for two weeks, so all...

E-tec 50 shift rod screw stuck

Hey guys-- I can't do pics with Photobucket any longer (they no longer allow linking unless you pay $40/month, yeah right) and google pics don't display even when I add recommended extensions. Anyone have a good photo hosting site that's free and allows linking to forums, etc.? Anyway--there is...

E-tec 50 shift rod screw stuck

Hey all, hope you're getting out and enjoying some of the great weather (at least here in the PNW)! After my recent electronic work, I'm now delving into lower units for gear oil and water pump kits. I have twin etec 50s, 2007 models. I've removed everything I need to in order to drop the...

    No house electronics--weird problem

Thanks again Bob. I will get one of those on order, and see how it goes. I went to run the new red/black wires up to the cabin yesterday and found an interesting configuration (conflagration?) with the old one. There is a small bundle that includes positive and I think negative (all covered in...

    No house electronics--weird problem

I like the dacron idea, and will use that. Unfortunately the old wires are well ziptied into a large bundle, and won't easily come out, or I'd use them to pull the new ones. I did in fact use adhesive shrink tubing on all cables, about 2" each, and marine wire. In my case, what happened was the...

    No house electronics--weird problem

I did order the load tester as recommended, and received it yesterday about four hours after Wally World. :) It is shocking how heavy a group 31 is, especially when trying to thread it into a battery compartment and not break your fingers! Glad to have this tool for next time.

    No house electronics--weird problem

An update with very good news. I went to my local chandlery and got supplies to replace: --All 4 battery cables for the starter batteries (sized these up from 6ga to 4ga on his recommendation) --Both battery cables for the house battery (kept to 6ga for those) --Positive cables from house...

    No house electronics--weird problem

Good morning. Just back from Wally World, and it's a good news/bad news sort of thing. The house battery load tested just fine, giving 1079 CCA of the rated 1150, and at 13.02 V. So "yay, I don't need to buy a new battery!", and "damn, I still don't know what's wrong!" It occurred to me...

    No house electronics--weird problem

All good points and fit my situation well. No breaker tripping when doing the windlass test; I'll repeat anyway with meter at the battery. You're right re: age of battery--I was trying to remember when I bought the boat and replaced the batteries, and it was in fact 2012 not 2013. And yes, I...

Xantrex TrueCharge 20 won't charge dead house battery

I have to chuckle at the crossover of this topic and my current one, Bob! Yes, I am forgetful and somewhat dense at times, and somewhere in the dark recesses I thought, "Didn't Bob once tell me that a battery can be charged and still toast?" and lo and behold, here I found your old comment to...

    No house electronics--weird problem

One more thing, per Dave's comment about load testing. When I put voltmeter across the terminals at the windlass switch, I get 12.7. When I switch the windlass on, volts go immediately to 0. Same across trim tab switches. Does this suffice as a rudimentary load test, to show that my house...
