    Flight of the Blue Eagle

Thanks Kent, Having your posting pop onto my screen while in 8 ft swells was a nice, warm, fuzzy feeling; almost like having you and Marcia, and the rest of the gang cruising along with us. Incidentally, my father is here and said to send his regards. Making sandwiches in swells like that...

    Flight of the Blue Eagle

Well, after 16 windy days the weather has finally improved. Blue Eagle flew the coop today, passing under the Golden Gate bridge at 12:18. The weather is improving as we head south and this is allowing us to stay close to shore, only one or two miles out. Good views thus far have included one...

Can you recommend a specific brand of fuel bladder

I went with six of those five gallon jugs as well (the squat stable ones, not the Jerry cans) Also got a roll of that thin foam material that you put under stuff to keep it from sliding around. That way when conditions get a bit rough I can move the cans all the way forward in the cabin aisle...

    CDory Cabin Keys

If you have the TroVing key, you can order blanks from Diamond Sea Glaze, the company that makes our windows. They sell any quantity, from 1 up, and when I called they were helpful and friendly. They also helped me find someone in my area who was qualified to adjust the tightness of the window...

    Flight of the Blue Eagle

Thanks for your support, concern, and advice, One of the first articles I ever read here was the Have you traveled between SF BAY & San Diego? thread, but I think there are several notable differences, not the least being that this is a 26’ Venture(CC) rather than a CD-16. We will also be going...

    Flight of the Blue Eagle

After nearly two years of bouncing around San Francisco Bay, the Delta, Angel Island, and the Farallons, Blue Eagle is preparing for a cruise down the coast, with possible ports of call in Half Moon Bay, Santa Cruz, Monterey, Pebble Beach, Morro Bay, Avila Beach, Coho, Santa Barbara, and Marina...

    Navionics app for Android...

While we're on the subject, has anyone tried running the Navionics software on an iPad? If it works on it that would make a great backup system. I've also been trying to get information on getting a single license for Google Earth Enterprise, since the maps are stored locally rather then...

    Flushing Techniques

Salt away four times a year? Around here we do it each and every time, with a full cap for the flushing the engine, and another full cap for the outside of the engines and the rest of the boat. Also, don't forget to wipe down the inside handle of the cabin door if you've been running with the...

"If there's anything worse then your community being bit by a disaster, it's being hit by a disaster while other, and bigger, disasters unfold." - Keith Olbermann's Special Comment on 2010 Nashville flood 4/3/2010 If not for the oil well in the Gulf and the NYC bomb, this would be big...

Water Under Aft Cockpit in 07 Venture

Thanks. I don't think there were any changes from the 2007 model year though. Jay at King Salmon rigged the engines for me as part of the deal. We put on twin Honda 90's, and have been very happy with them. Because of the market crash, only now have I finally gotten around to electronics. In...

Water Under Aft Cockpit in 07 Venture

Sure. It is GXK26031A708 My understanding of the breakdown is as follows: GXK = CAPE CRUISER BOAT WORKS 26 = Hull Serial Number, which on CCs/CDs is based on the Hull Series Number, in this case 26, and the Hull Number, in this case 031. A7 = Date of Certification or Date of...

Water Under Aft Cockpit in 07 Venture

Be careful about cutting an inspection plate between the fuel tanks. On mine there is a support for the deck that runs up the middle and would probably be bad to cut. Does anyone have any construction pics? Those would be most helpful. Mine is an '08 Cape Cruiser. I believe it was the last one...

Water Under Aft Cockpit in 07 Venture

Same problem, same solution, mostly fixed now except it is still low in the water, and listing about an inch and a half to starboard. Based on how weight affects the waterline, I would guess that I am looking for 20 to 25 gallons (185 lbs levels the boat, 185/8.35lbs per gallon = 22.15). This...

    Looking for 25 or V26

Outboard Motor Shop in Oakland, California has a Venture 26 that they are most anxious to move. It know that is 3000 miles from Florida, but depending on the deal offered, it might be worth the shipping.

2010 Delta/Bay Extravaganza and Catalina Adventure

Jim, We greatly enjoyed last years cruise, and eagerly anticipate this one. My offer to pay a share of the no-shows still stands, as it hardly seems fair that you should go to all the hard work of planning the trip, and then get stiffed too. Would it be possible for me to Paypal you the money...

Calif Property Tax & Your C-Dory

When I get one of those emails claiming a travesty of justice is occurring, my blood boils and I want to forward it to as many people as I can, and as fast as possible. When one is livid about the information presented, it is easy to forward it on without verifying it, which is exactly what...

    2009 26' VENTURE

Mine has twin Honda 90's and the top speed is 39 mph@6k rpm, per gps. Comparing that to P McCs' posting above, it seems that the extra 20 hp gets you around 3 mph extra. The 2x90's give it ample power, however, they are not pushing the envelope for the boat, if speed is what you're after...
