    lightweight foam shelves/cabinets

I was looking at an RV forum and saw a technique to build cabinets from sheets of foam insulation. You add a layer of fiberglass net to the outside and it is supposed to make a very strong product. I am thinking about using this technique to make some shelves to organize the cupboard...

Hot Springs Cove/Tofino/Vancouver Island West Coast

Thanks for the interesting write up. Nootka Sound is also on my list of places I want to go so that was also interesting, but I think the most valuable thing I took from that is the confirmation that I want to drive to Tofino or Grice Bay. I'm guessing that the area warrants a minimum of 2...

Hot Springs Cove/Tofino/Vancouver Island West Coast

It is time to start making plans for the summer cruising season. Clayoquot Sound and Hot Springs Cove would be great places to explore.

Hot Springs Cove/Tofino/Vancouver Island West Coast

That is why I want to go there by boat. I can ignore the people during the day by reading a book sitting on my boat, but I would really like to be sitting in the hot springs with the cool waves rushing over just as the water started to get too hot and watching the full moon rise over the...

Hot Springs Cove/Tofino/Vancouver Island West Coast

I am wondering there are any C-Brats on the West Coast of Vancouver Island near Tofino or anyone who might be interested in going there next summer. I would like to explore that area and anchor for a couple of days at Hot Springs Cove...

My plan (and I believe that Sleepy-C will also be here) is to launch my boat at Union Bay (near Comox but free parking) on Tuesday afternoon. I will then spend the night at Sandy Island (known to locals at Tree Island) or Henry Bay and then cross the straight early on Wednesday or Thursday...

Installing extended Bow Roller? Which ground tackle rig?

I didn't have a swim step last summer so it was a project I really wanted for this year. It is custom made and only 16" wide, but I can't believe how much more relaxed I am to have it there. I would love it to be bigger, but even though it is small I have found it very useful...

Installing extended Bow Roller? Which ground tackle rig?

I have never gone on the deck to drop or retrieve my anchor. I had a rubber feed bucket wedged between the centre cleat and raised deck area and that is where I stored the rode. I also had a short light rope tied to the anchor that I used to secure the anchor in place. I just climb through...

Sharon Welcome. We are neighbours so if you are ever in the Comox Valley come by and visit (assuming I'm home and not out cruising). Good luck with your search.

If you around Savary Island it might be worth a short side trip to Middlenatch Island. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitlenatc ... ncial_Park It is more of a side trip than a destination, but it is kind of neat anyway. Even if you just cruise slowly around the island you will see seals and birds.

    Door lock question

I know this is an old thread, but if anyone else is reading it to figure out how to fix their door that won't lock, I thought I would add my two cents worth. I have had the boat for a year and the door never locked. The mechanism seemed to work when the door was open, but not when it was...

windlass installation where to put the wiring

That makes perfect sense. I was going to cut holes in my bow today but it is raining and perhaps not the best time to that so I will hope for a nice day before Monday when I am going to get the wiring hooked up. I don't making mistakes on some things, but I think the wiring is a safety issue...

windlass installation where to put the wiring

I think that is a really good idea, but I'm wondering why you did that instead of putting the circuit breaker at the back and some kind of an on/off switch at the helm. Of course, I don't know what kind of switch would be suitable - which may be the answer to my question.

windlass installation where to put the wiring

I'm thinking I may mount the rocker switch that comes with the windlass on long wire so I can take it up front with me. A wired remote switch costs $250 and a wireless remote costs about $350, but I don't think I would need them if I made my own. I just wish I knew more about what I am doing...

windlass installation where to put the wiring

That makes total sense to me. I think it is important to have the breaker easily accessible. Do you have a picture of your remote switch. It makes sense to me, I just can't picture how it is done. I checked out your albums and you have some nice mods. You are an inspiration. Thank you...
