    Draining fuel tanks

I've got a 22' cruiser with 2+ year old, untreated gas in its tanks. I'm hesitant to burn it off, even at an idle. Has anyone determined a (relatively) easy way of pumping/draining gas out of their tanks?

    Solar vent

Ken: you said it. I don't know if the hatch window had an invisible, fatal flaw or what, but it sure wasn't a pleasant surprise! Redfox, since I'm starting over...where on the cabin top did you put it? Dead center? I was thinking about over the stove.

    Solar vent

Based on the recommendations in this thread, I bought a hole saw and bore a hole in my hatch. While I was fussing with the day/night solar vent, the weakened hatch split spectacularly, diagonally from hinge to latch. Fortunately, I have web access at my slip and was able to order a new $450...

    self-launching anchor

Thanks, Wolf. I already have a good S&L rode. Looks like this is what you're talking about? I'm ordering one now. Link to bow roller

    self-launching anchor

I just installed the Horizon 600 GF free-fall windlass, and it's apparent that my existing anchor/bow roller won't self-launch. Any recommendations for replacement hardware?

Unfortunately, all they seem to have archived in this instance is the top level.

I noticed that second site, too, dancer. Nope, it's not the same content. I went ahead and looked up who registered nwboating.net and emailed him to find out what happened. I'll post the content myself, if I have to.

    poof, no more nwboating.com

This excellent site disappeared several months ago, and with it, all of the destination-specific information upon which I had come to rely. Does anyone know if it moved, or did it go belly up? I'd be curious what sites people use to investigate possible destinations. If you want to go to, say...

    removing and preventing mussels

Over the last two months, I've watched organisms attach themselves to my depth sounder transducer, and not coincidentally, the depth sounder's performance degraded into nothingness. I finally pulled her out yesterday. Six months' worth of mussels are shown in the below photo. Any advice for...

    Whale info

In the spirit of "I chose to educate wither they want to be or not," I shall try just one more time. I'm not convinced that a significant percentage of the boaters who would have otherwise accidentally run over the top of whales 1) frequent this site, 2) will see this thread, 3) will open it...

    Whale info

Yeah, I too have gotten dirty looks and nasty remarks from land-based, granola crunching whale observers. It's like, what exactly did I do wrong? I stopped ten football fields away from the whale and drifted, and for that matter, they came to me, so how much am I bothering them, really? I have a...

    Whale info

I love observing the whales, too, but I have real mixed feelings about this thread. The engine noise of power-boats is just deafening to whales, who of course rely upon sound the way we rely upon sight. I worry that posting this information on a dedicated powerboating site just turns them into...
