01/13 - 01/15 - Seattle Boat Show/C-Brat Convention

Tom,,El & Bill----
Just finished wrapping and packing SIX liters of RED :cat plus TWO qts. Cabin Fever so work up a thirst in the next few days cause I sure don't want to have to fly home with it!!!
Really looking forward to seeing everybody again!!!
Terry
PS: Tom did you get any of those white hots I brought down?.

Terry,

The white hots were placed in a selected spot in the refrigerator...counted each day. I was alloted one...and one Oscar Meyer one night...that was it.After all these years of marriage, i have found one thing she won't share: the white hots.

I am considering bringing the banjo, but if the party is a big noisy talk thing, maybe not appropriate...but a few Chesapeake songs might be good?

PS. i'll accept advice from the gathering people

I was born and raised in Iowa, misspent some of my youth in Texas. I can tell you about "loose meat" sandwiches or breakfast tortillas, but I don't know what a red-hot or white-hot might be. Is it some sort of hotdog or brat?

Best wishes,
James TX/SD

Geez, Charlie - I WAS asleep (I have pictures to prove it!) and even I heard the banjo!! Tom - bring the banjo AND the little limberjack guys!! And some Chesapeake Scenes CDs!! ♫ Goodbye, my old Bay girl...♫

I must have been asleep last June, I missed it.
:cry

I plan to make the party at the hotel...maybe the factory too..but for sure the hotel...banjo on board. it will be fine if a few of us gather in a corner and sing..do people sing at c-dory gatherings on the left side?
I really look forward to meeting some of the people who started my interest in this boat...for all of our "right coast" bravado, it is the left coast crowd that gives us confidence, information, and just plain fun. Get your voices ready...for the "C'dory Song"..

Tom, I'll be there too, flying in on Thursday, leaving on Monday.

From what I heard, their parties are not like ours here, mostly they just stand around and scratch.

You'll have to teach 'em (and me) how to sing... :cry

Charlie

Ouch! Well, been to parties on both sides, and you guys definitely sing better...on the other hand (here he ducks), Dungies beat blue crabs hands down any day!!!!

Pat,

Next summer, if you and Patty come to the gathering, i will be sure to have a tuna casserole for you and not subject you to our steamed blue crabs.
On the other hand, a few "dungies" at the party would make up for this left coast slur.

Look forward to seeing you all...isn't it amazing how this little boat brings people together?

Ok, we leave here on Wednesday..go to Vashon that night...and Thursday...On Friday, i will be takng the ferry over to Seattle, and frm there to the party..I 'd like to do it by takng a cab or something..Is the distance to the Friday night party at the hotel prohibitive for a cab ride?
I will have a rental car,but that will be left with Ann for her tooling around with our friends on Vashon...what to do? Advice from natives, please

terraplane tom

JAMES TX/SD Terry here---Will you be at the SBS????
Tom---Byrdman and I are sharing a rental car so if a Right Coaster isn't going to be coming close by where you get off the ferry maybe Pat and I can find the place and pick you up----keep us posted
Terry

Amen...I love the COMMUNITY more than the boat (and that is NOT a knock on the boat)! It will be wonderful to see my Eastern Shore friends again. I have no problem with the steamed blue crabs, I ate my share and redhots and whitehots to boot...save the tuna casserole for the kids, please! While we are off the topic, I was getting sentimental yesterday about our Eastern Shore adventure, being introduced to the history and culture of the watermen, workboats, skipjacks, tonging, dredging, the whole deal--to which, I will venture, most of my Left Coast friends have never been exposed--I was reflecting that our lives were considerably enriched by that experience, and for that I thank you, and all of you, immensely.

I will plan on being at the Friday night party, banjo in hand. Look forward to seeing you all.

I think the hotel name and number is posted here somewhere.,so i can get directions to the place from the ferry landing after crossing from Vashon.

I'll find it.

Pat, I'd like to go if you're still speaking with me. Doubt I'll be able to find/afford football tickets. The last Redskins game I saw in person was at the rose bowl for Superbowl?? in about 1984 or so. I think they beat Miami, when John Riggins was playing..

Charlie

I think we should go the Falls and the brewery on Saturday, then hunker down at the hotel in front of the boob tube for the game...how could I not welcome you, Charlie? The Eastern Shore was just simply one of the best experiences ever, and I would be an ungrateful SOB not to try to return the favor!

Now that the Bucs let us down do we know if the boatshow will be open till 9pm Friday?

We don't get in until noon Friday and that won't leave a lot of time for all the looking. I might consider trying to get an extra night at the motel and change the flight to Thursday evening.

Steve

Steve,

According to the Boat Show program I got today, it's scheduled to be open from 11:00 am - 9:00 pm on Friday the 13th. It would probably be worth your while to come earlier if you could.
