03/10 - 03/12 - Poulsbo, WA

And now we have a check from Liberty Call, too, so I think we are all set. I'll send in the reservation form this weekend!

Hey, Janet, great job on this gig. Yes, it is time consuming. Sometimes you might wonder why you hopped to the forefront here. But these folks won't forget, and you'll find they're long grateful for your efforts. Those are pennies in your piggy, kiddo, and interest accrues. The fish who are biting your bait are quality people who likely will be your trusted friends for years. Thank you!

Bambina probably won't leave her dry mew that weekend, but her human might. Winter '06 has brought a new and slightly embarrassing brand of softness to a middle-age Catguy. Like the Pillsbury Doughboy and his cousin The Michelin Man, an inquisitive poke to my amplified tummy inspires only an enthusiastic giggle. The three of us agree home is a warm haven; a place with heat, a bed, a head, other stuff, and a 17 pounder named Buster who luxuriates under my nurturing hand.

And I agree about Brownsville. Last year during Memorial Day weekend when a yacht club consumed every available dock morsel so that even my little feller and I went hungry that late afternoon, we scooted 7 miles south to welcome arms. Plenty of moorage, a store, showers, nice walking, and very quiet, too. But socially, commercially, Brownsville is the complete opposite of Poulsbo. No doubt, though, Poulsbo's super.

Hope you can make an appearance Brock. I want to see if you are catching up to some of the rest of us in girth. I'll bring extra beer for you if you tell me you will be there.

Depending on the weather and conditions, we may want to launch from Everett on Saturday morning rather than starting from Twin Bridges, past LaConner, down thru Saratoga Passage etc. If we used the boat ramp at Everett, can we leave our tow rig and trailer overnight and is there a fee? Also, is it secure or out in the open?

Sorry, you know us newbies, we've never launched out of Everett and any information would help.

Everett is great, in fact it is probably my favorite launch. You can leave your tow rig and trailer overnight, and there is a fee. As I recall, you need cash for their ticket machine too, so be prepared. The parking lot is not fenced or anything (it is huge), but it is well lighted, and I would imagine pretty well patrolled. We have left our tow rig and trailer there overnight several times with no concerns.

Ditto on everything Pat said.......except..the parking lot is fenced, they close the gate late at night, but they have a phone number you can call if you need out....at this time of year there is no overnight parking fee. (Be aware the instructions lead you to believe that there is, but I checked with the Port of Everett two weeks ago when I overnighted there and they said "no overnight parking fee at this time of year"). So, I didn't pay it and received no ticket and my truck and trailer were in fine shape on my return!

All that being said....contact the Port of Everett in advance so you know for sure... :wink

OK, what Rev. Dave said...I stand corrected on the fence, it is such a big place and the fence is three miles away and all...this is still a great place to launch!

Yep, Everett Launch Site is so great that has "innies and outies".

AKA.... designated retrieval ramps and designated launching ramps with accompanying floats. (I used to refer to them as docks until I recently learned on the C-Brat site that they are correctly referred to as "floats"). :smiled

There is a Launch fee, but no ADDITIONAL fee this time of year. We'll be leaving Friday from Everett - weather permitting. Nice wind for the next 24 hours in the WA area. A small sail may speed the trip up if there is wind like tonight!

Janet & Chris,
We called Poulsbo and they put us on the list for the gig...I asked about money ,the guy told me not to worry about paying ,etc until we got there... so if we need to settle up with you, guess we will do it there ...otherwise you won't get our check in time ..We will be there for Saturday night, and possibly Sunday night too.

Remember C-Dory church Sunday Morning!!

I see the Rev. Jim is signed up. Excellant. I need to have the 25 christened. I'll bring some excellent suds to pour across the bow, and to savor.

I've been out of touch for about 3 weeks and it's been entertaining to catch up on the site. I really enjoyed Brock's post since I went up one pants size in two weeks on Kauai. However, it's hard to believe that nobody picked up on Brock's boat buying signal. "The three of us agree home is a warm haven; a place with heat, a bed, a head, other stuff and a 17 pounder named Buster". Brock in his Seattle winter, middle aged, rotund state of mind is yearning for a '22 or a '25.

Brock either boat will offer all of the above, including room for Buster and plenty of other stuff. Leave the minimalist life to younger people and join those of us who need a little more room in our waistbands and our boats.

Yeah, Brock. Looking forward to seeing you at Poulsbo. You want to spend the night on a big brother to your boat you are welcome to join me. Kate is on a weaving mission (what's new). The table drops quickly. Might help make up your mind about more space, heated space, and storage space.

Lyle and David, you guys are the coolest. Skinny, fat, it don't matter, you're only interested in a Cat's comfort. Still, in three hours Bambina and I celebrate our 17th anniversary. Any talk about bouncing her should probably wait a spell...

Well now that I've got my fee in, the weather is clearing and everything is on-line for a great weekend in my neck of the woods for a change........I have to bow out! Once again I have the great privilege to ride one of the Navy's mighty aircraft carriers for a week to do a training gig; too many good things happening at the same time. I look forward to the next C-Brat get together and I am determined to see you all soon. Please try to get down to Brownsville and check it out if you can. There is beer on tap and deli food in the marina store and the nicest people you'll ever meet (tell them Doug sent ya). The place has terrific accommodations; heads at the dock, a covered picnic area and a large meeting room above the deli with a kitchen we could use. If there is interest I could "host" an event later in the summer when the salmon and crab oblige to give us something to do. Food for thought.

Have fun,
Doug

So, of course the pot luck is Saturday night, right Janet? What are folks bringing to wash down with our beer? What facilities are we going to have?
