03/26 - 03/28 - Jarrell's Cove

I think you did just sign up for a christening at Jarrell's Cove! Also, as noted, Jim is the Ass't Rev. and will be christening Rev. Dave's new craft, Sea Shift Super Sized or Super Sized Sea Shift (SSSS).

Thanks Pat for the description on the Boat christening, I especially like the part about consuming beverages! and heck I can always use some good luck from the sea. :) Do we need to sign up for this?

Also, forgot to mention - annual State Park mooring permit came yesterday, so with the stay at Stuart and two nights at Jarrell's Cove, three of my seven "cost recovery" moorings will be in by the end of March! I kind of expect them to mostly be before Memorial Day and after Labor Day, but who know, maybe we can luck out for dock space at Jones or Sucia or Stuart in July and August...(fat chance)

See what I mean, Jeff and Diane, doin' the best you ca-ann. Fred and Da Nerd used to be nice to me, follow me, even listen to me. And now? Well, you can see it's all different.

.Excellent reply from Pat on the Christenings. We sometimes do it on Saturday eve, or on Sunday morning before everyone heads for home. I refer to the Sunday thing as C-Dory Church..
Jim, the Asst.Rev.

We are hoping to make it to Jarrelly Cove on Sat. evening. It is going to be a struggle as we have obligations in beautiful downtown Arlington until 1400 HRS, then we have to scurry home before we depart.
If we are there Sunday morning we can help celebrate "Sunday Morning Mass" as in "Mass Christenings".

By The Way....I know I typo erred on the spelling of "Jarrell's" Cove in this text, but since we've worked on various renditions of spelling it, I thought I'd leave it in.

I was waiting until I knew for sure before poking my nose into this one, but I found out today that work will keep us from Geraldine's Grove this year. I was really wanting to make it, too, because of the tradition. The first South Sound gig was sorta the result of my whining about having to drive through that dreadful Seattle all the time. There are a lot of memories of the area. Like losing Dusty between the first beer joint we went to and the second or third. And Jim & Laurie hauling us around town in their PT Cruiser because the weather was such as to preclude the real cruising. Then, the last time we were in the area, I actually was at that J Cove place, and pulled away from the dock with me at the helm of Dusty's new TomCat. It seems to me that one of the fall trips up that way involved some of Roger's spuds, too. Anyhow, we can't make it this time.

So, y'all have a good one. And if you happen by the Fishtales Ale House, thank them again for the great service.

Gonna miss you guys, Mike and Kay. If we make it to the Fishtale Ale House, I'll gulp one down for you. Let me know if you need one of those fancy beer glasses with the salmon on it, I sure wouldn't mind picking up a couple if I make it there.
Jon

Phooey! Can you send Skipper up on a Greyhound to play with Oscar anyway? BTW, the folks at Fish are our friends natch, it is a very small and close community, even though we are competitors. That and $4.00 however will get me a beer there...

Since we are still waiting for the C-Puffin to be ready in May, and we are hopeless C-dory wannabes, we were thinking of heading to Jarrell's Cove for the gathering. Not sure yet if Laurie can get the time off, but we may drive down for the day on Saturday. Is the area accessible by car? We are hoping to be able to poke around, and generally ask a million questions about your C-dorys. Once we know for sure we will officially sign up. Hope to be able to meet a few of you there.

Scott and Laurie

Yes, it most definitely is accessible by car...Get your road atlas out, or check this out, it has driving directions: http://www.parks.wa.gov/parkpage.asp?selectedpark=Jarrell Cove&pageno=1

Scott and Laurie!
By all means if you can make it ,we will all be happy to see ya there. We hope you do!! You won't find a shortage of boats to step on and sit and "boat talk".

Okay, we are signed up and ready to come to the gathering. We are planning to get there on Saturday around 11:00. Not sure how long we will be able to stay - it depends on how long it takes us to get there and whether or not we bring our dog. Like I said before, we are still WB (without boat) and we are assuming that the park isn't so large that we will have a hard time finding you guys. See you there!

Scott and Laurie (and maybe Winston)

Scott, Laurie (and maybe Winston) 11:00 ? nobody will be awake by then.....when you get to the park, just follow the empty Bud cans.....no...wait....that will get you to the Bayliner owners group. The park isn't that big, we won't be hard to find.

Saturday potluck......my BBQr will cook enough salmon for every body to get a good taste or two....anybody else have a BBQr they could bring?

Like I told all you good folk, C-Doryland is a Bud-free zone! And we do NOT leave a trail of empty Wildcat IPA bottles...

We did a Recon of J.C today via the Laurna Jo. Trid out the new tabs. Wow what a wonderful ride!! Met a Tacoma Outboard Assn. member who has a 94 green 16' when I launched. Then on our way back we met a new red 16' that was the SBS 16'. It was the maiden voyage for the new owner, and he looked like the rest of us... smitten, bitten, and ready to boat. They are from Olympia, and we invited them to definitely come to the J.C gathering..

I put out the plan a while ago to head from Jarrell's Cove to the old Allyn Tavern for breakfast either Saturday or Sunday morning or both... anybody interested?

When we did our recon yeaterday ,we saw that there are the 2 docks at the Park. Seems like the one furthest in would be the one for us or do we fill then spill over to the main one? Or did I miss a post on here about this ?

Hey Pat, we're game for a breakfast or dinner cruise...where's Tim Allen Cove? Anybody have any other cruise ideas?

Pat, that breakfast idea just may attract a flock of hungry C-rows. How many miles did you say it was to Allyn Tavern? Maybe that becomes the start of a Saturday cruise, or perhaps the Sunday departure.

I don't have my charts at hand, but it is really very close to Jarrell's Cove. I think the water body is called Case Inlet, and Allyn is right up at the end of it. If you can get your chart out, you will be able to spot it. Certainly not more than half an hour from Jarrell's Cove, I am guessing actually closer than that...A nice municipal dock there, a short walk to the old Allyn Tavern, now called Leonard's.
