05/04 - 05/05 - Lopez Opening Day 2007

Peter,

Name badges are a good idea, they worked well at the Seattle boat show gathering.

Only problem is that the signup sheet is by username and the individuals names are not always known.

If you have blank badges(or blanks with a logo) and markers, then those that show up can make their own badges with whatever name they choose.

Hey guys and gals,

I would be willing to put together some nifty name badges for the Lopez gathering if you think they're necessary. Let me know what you think asap and if it's a go, I'll get the names off the sign-up list.

Peter ,

I'd rather have you bring me a couple of cold beers. People can then identify me then by my smiling grin. See ya there.

Cheers,

Tom

Thanks for the replies so far. Good suggestion Larry about bringing some blank name badges. I looked at the sign-up list and I think I know most of the names on the list but not all the spouses. If I have any questions on spouses and others who are coming (kids, friends, etc) I will PM you for more info. If you wish, you can also include the names in a post as timflan did above.

So, if there are others who are planning on coming and haven't signed up, please do so asap. We'll be at Lopez one week from today!! :thup :teeth

Peter

P.S. Tom, it looks like David has the beer covered. :wink

I'm sure looking forward to this one. We haven't hit a C-brat gathering since the factory dinner. I'll be out all day on Sat to get my spot prawns. Joyce, I and the dog will all be there. I promise some excellent Sancerre to go with any sea food and a nice red blend or two.

See you all there!

looks like I may have to work on saturday until noon. So susan is taking the boat up on friday morning and running over to lopaz by her self for the first time. I will ferry up or stick my thumb out at the dock on saturday afternoon. Any one heading up saturday around noon?? if you see the 'Susan E' heading out that way feel free to tag along and she will show you the way. we will stay until monday after noon.

We are planning to leave JW Marina (Sequim) either Thursday or Friday AM. Looking at current, tide and weather info, looks like leaving early is probably preffered. Wondering if any one is planning on running across the strait either day. Would like to run across together since this will be our first trip across. Any one else leaving from Port Townsend, Port Angles or Sequim?

Hardee, You will be going through Cattle Pass on your way between Lopez and San Juan Is. Take a good look at your charts and then don't let the rip tides worry you too much. The first time I went through on my 22 it was full ebb with a south wind. It can get a little squirrley but if you stay in the center of the passage you will be fine.

See you at Fishermans Bay.

Hi David,

Thanks for the input-we will try to stay centered! Mostly we were wanting company on the crossing...either to run with or on the radio. From what we've seen on the site it looks like channel 68 is the most common for C-Brats gathering. We are really looking forward to this trip as it will be our first big outing. :D

C-Cakes will be launching from Cornet Bay Friday mid morning and would enjoy flotillaing (there's a new word!) with any other brats heading to Lopez. Anybody heading that way about then??

Patti & Barry,

We are planning on a launch in OH on Thursday and put the boat on a slip for the night to give us tine to get the rig home and come back in a "leavable" car. Don't want to leave the rig there as we are going on to Snug harbor and Pender Island for a couple of weeks after the Lopez bash.

Should be able to make Cornet bay by mid morning. Which way were you thinking of going ?? Straight shot or the scenic tour ??

Merv & Kathy

Susan does not want to use the launch next tot twin bridges by her self on friday so I was thinking of having her drive over to skyline marina and have her use the sling launch for $30 round trip. Has anyone used this sling before and what other choices does she have. I dont like the launch at washington state park. its bad if the wind blows out of the north. cap sante has a sling but they wanted $25 each way last I checked. Does anyone know for sure wha the price is. I tried to call but could not get anyone. There is a ramp in guemes channel but I cant find out who ownes it. Anyone know about that one?

Tom,

Patti and I will be launching from Cornet Bay on Friday, Its about 20 minutes from Twin Bridges and an easy launch. When is Susan planning on launching? We are planning to launch in mid-mornin, say 10:30ish, as dead low tide (about 1/2ft) is at 12:52 and would be happy to help out, etc.

Merv,

That sounds good. We're not in a hurry and would be happy to do the scenic route, though to us its all scenic.

Don't know about the other launches but Joyce and I used the sling launch last year. It was a piece of cake with good parking across the street (bring some cash or a check, $5 or so per day, need to put it in an envelope). We'll be launching up there Fri. AM at approximately 10AM. We'd be happy to "flotilla across" with others.

She could sure launch here at Cornet Bay. The ramps are very nice now and easy to do single handed. However, I'd also be happy to run down to the ramp with her and get the boat launched; not a problem at all.

I want badly to get over to the gathering but odd as it may seem there isn't a boat that's ready-to-go here at the moment. :( I may try to come over Saturday evening by ferry but that involves some other interesting logistics.

Really, I just wanted to let you all know I'm thinking of you and really miss getting together with all my friends; especially since the SBS thing didn't work out this year.

If I can figure something out I'll be on over. Hope the weather cooperates (for once!). :thup

Hey Les,Susan says she would really like that. Makes me feel better too. She will stop by the shop around 1030 to 1100 and come see you. I have programed the way points into the gps for her to follow. She may need a hand getting the follow way point screen up. I sure do appreciate the help.

We are also planning to launch from Skyline on Friday. Am shooting for noonish. Would love to motor to Lopez caravan style with any and all. Besides have heared the harbor entrance can be a bit tricky and I am unfamiliar with it.
