05/16 - 05/18 - Friday Harbor Spring CBGT

There was a thread about chartering/renting C-Dorys in the PNW not too long ago. My recollection is not much was available. There is one 16 at Friday Harbor left over from those rental days and carrying the rental number on the cabin top but as far as I know its the last of the group and is privately owned (I think). You can get to Friday Harbor without a boat pretty easily. The ferry from Anacortes goes to Friday Harbor several times a day and the CBGT will be within easy walking distance of the ferry landing. And, if you said pretty please three times and turned around in a circle twice, I'm confident some Brat heading out to the CBGT would be willing to give you a ride :) :) so by all means come ahead and plan to be at the gathering. By the way, 15 boats have signed up thus far!! I'm contacting the Harbormaster to arrange for more slips to make sure we'll have enough room for everybody.

I contacted Friday harbor today and increased the number of reserved spaces from 20 to 30 and hopefully will have to increase it again before May. They are eager to have us and it should be great fun.

BaseCamp Anne, come on down! Just go to event signups at the top of the page and add yourself to the list.

(I do have to ask though...In the Olden Days..which a few of us old fogies remember...the Saturday Evening Post had a series of stories about "Tugboat Annie" any genetic connection there????) :) )

BaseCampAnne,

I see your info on the side shows you have a 2008 CD22 called Sea Coaster. Does that mean you purchased a new boat? If so, congratulations!!! As others have said on other threads, buying C-Dancer was one of the best purchases I've ever made. :thup

Oh and btw Barry, I signed Caryn and I up for Friday Harbor. Sounds like it's going to be fun!

Don't forget -- if you are planning to attend the Anacortes CBGT the weekend following the Friday Harbor CBGT (perhaps with some Gulf Islands or San Juan Islands cruising in between) -- please sign up for that CBGT separately from this one. There's an Event Signup in place for both CBGTs.

Thanks,
Warren

I can do the "pretty please" easily enough, but I might get lost in the middle of the second lap.

We've been to Friday several times (bare boat & car), as well as Cap Sante (we also plan to attend TrawlerFest), so we'll look forward to meeting a bunch of 'Brats.

Boat-y-sattva - (born as Daydream - now into full reincarnation in our hands) will be there. I am assuming that we will have fixed my little electrical fire that fried a few things...oops on electrical things and apologies to Pat and Patty. We will be put-put-putting over from Decatur Island, boat-y-sattva's new home.
see you
Kas and Marty

Great! We've got 19 boats signed up so far, not bad with five months to go. I told Friday harbor to expect about 30 boats and we may exceed that. Patti and I will be heading over to Friday Harbor regularly to start making arrangements for all the "goodies" we can work out with local merchants and attractions. We'll keep the list posted as we accumulate things.

See you there!

Barry and Patti

We'll be there and will be spending most of Fri and Sat. out shrimping (assuming the regs are the same as last year). The tide exchange is lower on this weekend than it was last year for the Lopez gathering so I should be able to keep my shrimp pots on the bottom this year!

E~fishin~C and crew will be in attendance for this one. We actually stayed at friday harbor last year while everyone was at lopez (they were full) Looking forward to maybe doing some shrimping and bottom fishing, last year we got a decent ling and rockfish out that way. Mellow tides will help the bottom fishing too.

Reminder to all: Don't forget, the Anacortes CBGT is the following weekend. Please sign up if you plan to attend that one also!

Thanks,
Warren

Sure sounds like fun. We are going to plan on getting one or the other weekends off for sure. (Maybe both) Still have that work thing :clock that keeps cropping up inbetween all these important boating events.

Hi Patti and Barry, thanks for the reminder at the factory party. C-Daisy and crew will be there. That will be a great way to wind down from our vacation. Amy and Karl

Patti and Barry.

We have added our names to the signup list. Nancy and I are looking forward to starting our summer cruising with this gathering of northwest Brats.

I have sent you a PM about our slip requirements.

Barry,

I took the liberty of adding Verla's and my names to the list. I'm hoping to be able to get my machine-shop hip refurbed before then, but I ought to be back in action by May.
Harvey tells us that Patti is queing up for a knee-job? Advise, please.

Hi all.

I suspect some people will be coming by ferry or may want to spend a night ashore. Since I have no way of predicting needs for ashore lodging I suggest those wishing to stay ashore contact hotels/B&B's, etc. directly. The best way to find lodging is at this site: www.visitsanjuans.com then to "lodging/places to stay" then to "San Juan Island". There are quite a few places to stay in Friday Harbor. The town is compact but hilly and there is taxi service available.

I'm starting to gather information on things to do and will post updates as I can confirm things.

By the way, all the slips are 30' bow in with 30A shore power.

See you in Friday Harbor

This one is a must do for us ! We will be going to the Islands May 10 ~ 19 to fish for lingcod so let me know if you need me to do any preprep work. We may have our friends with the CD look alike with us too

Is there a group considering cruising the San Juans between Friday Harbor and Anacortes?
Pat, I know there's been talk about some people interested in going up to the Gulf Islands between both gatherings. Caryn and I are considering it.
