06/02 - 06/04 - Lankford Bay Marina, Eastern Shore

Joe, as for the passage, I don't know. Those aren't my home waters, I'm down on the Potomac. Terraplane Tom or someone that lives around there should be able to answer that. The folks at Cutter may know too.

As for the shirts, as far as I know, they don't have Kid sizes, I think a small might do it. Terraplane Tom?

Joe

We boat on the Chester river out of Lankford Bay Marina. The water is too shallow and the bridge too low. You must come the main channel of the Chester R. There are many nooks and crannies on the river. The Corsica River, Grays Inn Creek, Reed Creek are a few good places to anchor day or night and they are close to LBM. Have a GOOD cruise from the west side of the bay.

Doug

Agree with Doug...the "short cut" between Eastern Neck is too shallow and the bridge too low...come 'round the long way.

I'll check on kid sizes for the t-shirts and let you know asap.

Charlie: I think i'd like to order the shirts by April25...so let's start getting the order in order, ok?

Are we still working on the number of 30 for attendance?

terraplane.

Tom, I'll have the order together for you next week. We've got 30 boats and 63 Adults, 3 Kids, 5 dogs :dog , no cats :cat and 12 monkeys :smilep signed up. Just in case you need numbers to order food, Purina, etc.

Charlie

For those attending the Langford Bay Gathering in June, the USCG Aux in the person of two of our own C-BRATS, Gary and Wayne will be there on their new 25's and will conduct Vessel Safety Checks (VSCs) for those that want them.

To see if you're ready, check out the virtual VSC Here

In order to do this efficiently, I'd ask each of the attendees to let me know by e-mail or PM if you want one and we'll get them scheduled in a way so as not to interfere with any festivities. :beer

Charlie, Doug & Terraplane,
thanks for you input regarding my question on routing, I will most certainly follow your recommediations. It certainly appeared to shallow to me, but I wanted some "locals" input regarding the charts accuracy. I just ordered a new V bed "Travasak" bedding set for my wife & I. Any of you have any experience, good or bad with this product. Thanks

Charlie

Charlie and Fred Messerly have collaborated on a really nice nametag..got one in the mail today...it is great..thanks to both.
The pavilion which was under construction last year will be ours for our social gatherings on Friday and Saturday....we have to pay a rental for that but we have some reserves from last year in the bank.

I think we are still at 30 boats, and about 63 people...

Anne Baxter (of our committee) is getting the press interested and the shirts will be in process soon...just have to hope we have an early crab season...

"Sally's Sister " has been out on the railway for bottom painting and waxing..got to get her bikini line in good shape! She's back in and looks fit and ready .

Happy Easter to everyone

Terraplane.

Well, we're now at 31 Boats and 66 people with the addition of John and Bev on Katzenjammer (they were there last year too). I have given t-shirt numbers to Tom and John (Lizzie Ann) and posted the new list in the documents section. 50 shirts asked for, I'm sure they'll order a few extras.

Hope to get Capt's Choice in the water this week down at our River place, the engines are up and running (after my lower unit replacement) but still got a lot of cleaning to do!!

Brad and Pat (Life Savor) will be trailering up with us on that Friday from the RT 301 Bridge area. Hope the weather is better than today, rain and cool here in Northern Virginia....

Charlie

We are about six weeks away from our gathering, and Charlie, Keeper of The Records (KOTR...sounds like a StarWars name)...tells me that we are at a healthy 31 boats for the event...
With the new pavilion open, we will have a place to meet and talk, as well as party!
The t shirts are about to be ordered, and i've been talking to my contact, wayne, a local waterman, about crabs.. (see waynes' picture on Sally's Sister photo gallery)....
Remember to check with Lankford Bay Marina for any reservations, special needs, etc. Ask for John A.
If you need help with directions, launch information, etc. get in touch.
Launch permits will again be sold at Toy's Outdoor Store on rt. 20, Rock Hall..just a few miles from the Long Cover public launch site.
People have asked if anyone from C.Dory is coming...no word on that to date. I'm sure that they are aware of the gathering.
Rumor has it that The Andersens are having themselves Fed Ex'd here, and bringing a refrigerated container of West Coast crab for comparisons.
We'll miss El and Bill of course...but how about a prize to the boat coming the greatest distance called the ElBill Prize?

Best to all.
Terraplane

I will post directions to the Gathering, the place where you get the Ramp permits (Toy's Outdoor Store), and the Ramp in a few weeks. If I do it now, you probably won't remember it when the time comes... I know by experience! Looks like Byrdman may be able to come, he's trying to work it into his schedule, he'd have the only CD 18 there and be Boat # 32. :thup :thup

When we took delivery of our boat weekend before last, Ruthie at Cutter mentioned that they are planning on being there, although they are staying in a hotel, I believe.

Norma

They were there last year too, good advertising from them. Jeff Messmer frfom the factory was there with his wife as well and gave out a bunch of hats and stuff. Sure hope he comes this year but with all the interest and the boat shows they have been supporting, I'll not fault him if he can't make it!

Charlie

I hope Jeff monitors this thread. Since so many of us from the "right" came to the Seattle show, it is only fair, right? We 'd like a factory rep...and our setting is better than a convention center anyway...

Had a call from a local boating rag..wanted to know if I get a cut from this...as the promoter. I told them i do...as many "Red Hots" as i can eat in a single sitting!

Pushing for 33 boats now.

Great news that Ruthie and the gang from Cutter are coming...

Thanks Joe, Charlie, Doug & Terraplane;
I had planned to use that "short cut" for my trip north from VA Beach. My Garmin 2006C indicated it had 4+ ft of water and abt 8' clearance; as I remember it. I thought I was going to be clever...

Thanks for the helpful question and answer... I will change my route to the west.

Alma's Only, ORCA and I have not set a firm plan for departure, but do plan to arrive Friday however we travel. I hope the price of fuel will allow this to stay in the budget; but, as close friend told me the other day, "you only go around once." so I will make the best of whatever works.

If there any recommendations as to rest points along the route north that gives us the time advantage traveling north would be great. Heading south may be a little less hurried, unless we are so tired that the call of our own home bed speeds the run home. Abt 180 NM is a haul for someone who has only gone 40 NM to one overniter.

This is to the five or six boats who are planning to come in Thursday, June1 to Lankford Bay Marina. I had a call from the manager. He is hosting another group overnight that day..27 boats. He MAY have to put you rafted up or on moorings for that one night, and move you to your slip on Friday. If this is a problem, please call John at Lankford Bay Marina and talk it over with him...I'd like to stay out of the reservation loop. THIS IS JUST TO THE THURSDAY ARRIVALS WHO HAVE ALREADY MADE RESERVATIONS WITH THE MARINA...

Don't know if we'll be among the early arrivals, but at any rate, how about planning a raft up, on the hook, in the Corsica River, just north of red 4? Anyone could come, and if there's more than a raft can handle, we'll just drop a second anchor, and form another raft. Only rafting advice for us C-Dory types is to be sure to space the fenders away from the Wallas exhaust, and if the raft moves back and forth, secure the anchor to the stern with a bridle. The raft could be broken up for sleeping, or kept together, as preferred by individual boats.

Yippee yi yi yaa.
I catch the scent of another C dory record in the offing..Let's pray for good weather and safe travel...How many states Charlie?

If the EarlyArrivals do gather on the Corsica (just across from Lankford , on Chester River, let me know...Some dinner music might be in order.

The count down is on.
