Yes, the gig's on, yes, we're meeting at Langley June 12-14. And as harbormaster Rick Brewer asks, please RSVP your plan to attend.

What would attendees like to do regarding Friday dinner and Saturday potluck? We could be really way out there and enjoy festival eating Friday, or not, and all go to a restaurant Saturday, even.
 
Hi, Langleyites. Without Robbi it looks like five boats are signed up for our quaint late-spring gig on Whidbey Island. I would think a few more will decide to come, but my guess is about nine boats. This cruise is a little different than some of the others because it's smaller and maybe a little more spontaneous. But the same super people will be there, just fewer of 'em, in smaller boats.

I'm cruising the San Juans next week and won't be online till next week. I look forward to finalizing plans in the remaining weeks and seeing you June 12.

Like Bellingham, I don't even bother to look at tides for Everett launches...but hey, maybe somebody else has a different view, I will be interested to hear. We will be launching our 16 Saturday morning, as Austin's graduation is Friday night.

Thanks Pat. I talked to my brother and he says that it is a non issue. This is from a person who only launches kayaks, so if a launcher of bigger boats has has other information, please let me know. I think I may put in at Everett about 2pm Sat if all goes as planned.

launching at everet at a 0 tide is ok. if it hits in the minus 2 range, as it did this weekend, then you will not get in or out. But just wait a few hours. With the out going river flow the incoming tide at everett comes up fast. On a opening weekend last year (salmon I think) the ramp almost went dry and 40 boats where tied to all sorts of dock waiting and b.s.ing. We motored around for a hour and came back to a empty dock, everyone had left by then.

Couldn't you just back the pickup to the water's edge, drop the tailgate, and slide 'er out into the water? I mean, c'mon, we're only talking a 16'er. :lol:

I have a roof rack set up for it. I just wanted to know if I'd get my feet wet.

I launched there with our 22' cruiser on Sat 5/23 at 1100 HRS when it was still a minus 2 tide. No problems at all. Of course I have a roller trailer, and a 4x4 Dodge 3/4 ton to get out of there (I had it in 4 WD but probably would have made it out in 2WD). One guy one lane over from me had problems getting his two wheel drive pick-up and trailer up the ramp after he launched, but he eventually got up the ramp.
 
Man, if we have weather like the last eight days or so, that'll put smiles on a few faces. Let's keep our paws crossed.

The San Juans were magnificent. It's a good time to go.

if the water is out use the number one ramp to the left as you look at the water. less sand and mud and a little more water.
 
Back up to the top! This gig is coming up fast, the weekend after next! It is still a pretty small group...but it will be one larger, my neighbor the Trophy Guy, Garry Anderson, is going to zoom across from his place on Camano to join us on Saturday.

So, Catman, what is the deal, potluck on Saturday? Roger and Lisbeth - why aren't you guys signed up? Send Jeremiah over with a keg and some corn if you can't make it! And what were the GPS coordinates of that DNR beach again?

This is a historic C-Brat event, come on, some more of you Upper Left Coasters need to sign up - and call Rick Brewer, the Harbormaster, for your slip reservation!

Brought Crabby Lou up from the back 40 this evening, the stout little 1991 Johnson 40 fired up like a charm! Tomorrow we scrub some algae off and hit the brow and strip with color restorer and wax, should be lookin' good for Langley!

 
OK, attendees, let's have a vote. How many want a potluck and how many prefer a shore side restaurant? Heresy, I know, but let's get some opinions.
 
Catmandu - half of the Crabby Lou crew votes for you guys go to a restaurant Friday night and we have the traditional potluck on Saturday! We might just be enticed to go back to Roger's DNR beach a harvest some of those yummy mussels to cook up in wine with tomatoes, garlic, onions and whatever!
 
Well, that's a pretty compelling vote for tradition, I should think.

Any other opinions before the gavel is dropped?
 
looks like we will be able to make this gig on saturday and I always like on the dock dinning. Pat are we sure about the clams. I have never done it but would be very willing to devote the day to just that.
 
OK, potluck it is. Tom's right, dockside dining is the best, anyway. Let's bring what we think folks will like without busting waistlines or budgets.
