07/15 - 07/17 Blakely Island

Thanks, but everything is really OK. It's just business crap. Without going into any detail, I'll just say that Mr. Anderson would probably have the best understanding of the circumstances due to the nature of his profession. And I don't mean as a brewmaster, either, although that might be a more beneficial profession at the moment.

We're pretty bummed about it, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

I'll be picking up my boat with the new canvas about 3 on Friday. Unfortunetly we are leaving Sat am for a week in SD.
Robbi, Pat has your fish wacker/measurer/persuader.

Thanks David.

I left this am for Blakely. Did a bit of fishing along the way. One cutt to hand near Ollala. Beautiful day on the water. No wind at all until about 2 miles south of Langley. I am at the cute little marina there, that is going to be rebuilt to a not so cute marina. But, it will be bigger. Is that a good thing? I am on my way up town to have a beer and burger at the Dog House. :beer I plan on heading out early tomorrow for DPSP. Hope to see a few other folks there. Smooth sailing to all. Robbi

For those of you that are bringing crab pots. Is anyone going to have a burner and pot to cook them there?
If weather permits, we are planning to hit Iceberg point on friday afternoon for some shrimpin and I won't have room for a cooker set up on the boat.
Hopefuly we will have some nice shrimp for the pot luck saturday
we will have the radio on so just call us if you are close at hand on friday afternoon.

TyBoo Crew,

Sorry you folks aren't going to make it. Since Judy and I are missing this one I was hoping for my report dockside when you got back but I'm sure we'll all get filled a plenty by all those that do make it.

Maybe we'll get one more shot at sturgeon on Saturday, then I have to pull the boat and get ready to head to central Oregon for my dang meeting. Businees does seem to mess up pleasure.

Tim

Dang it, TyBoo...that really sucks. I was hoping for another picture this year...

OK, fellow Brats - somebody's got to carry the torch here. How about a nice, big group trespassing photo?

Sure wish I could join you folks, Blakely is one of my favorite outings. It's looking like Sequim will be my only trip north this year... :cry

Well, can't stay long, not even overnight, but I will be over to Blakely Friday late afternoon after picking up the boat from Les's at 1 and a ferry back to Guemes. Only about an hour from here, so will head over for a couple of hours of hellos. Would stay overnight but the tide is out to far for a trailer retrieval in the am and I have to be on my way towards the airport at 11:00

We got the boat loaded pretty much. All we gotta do is put the cooler in in the morning... we hope to launch at TOA by 10 am and meet up with the others coming through Deception Pass in early afternoon. If anyone needs our Cell Number , just check with Daydream...lets' see got the Rum ,got the VO Gold, oh yeah and got a flask of the finer Scotch Whiskey to share with my Scot friends... do ya hear me William Wallace? and Shelly?I feel a Wee Dram coming on up there....

Just recieved an email from David and Jo on Spirit (my previous 22 ft cruiser) and they have made reservations for Sat and Sun at Blakely Is. They have just returned from a 7 week trip up past Desolation Sound. Sorry we are going to miss them, but they should have some great stories to tell about that whole area up there. They are at Roche Harbor or Orcas Is tonight, not sure, visiting friends..

See everyone there this evening for a short visit.

We have spent the last two nights trying to get things ready. C-Dory had the boat on Monday and Tuesday for first service and warranty work, we worked Wednesday evening and last evening. Accomplished:

Composting toilet and roof vent are installed (oh yeah, loved diving into the roof with a 3-3/4" hole saw, no foolin' - nerve wracking!), but the toilet is not in service yet, awaiting hooking up the vent hose and wiring the 12 volt fan. So those of you next to us do not need to worry - THIS time!

Electronics shelf (thanks, David) is installed, VHF radio and CD player are powered up and functioning. Using a temporary little two meter antenna for the VHF, and temporary speakers on the CD player, but what they hey, they work.

Still do not have the C-80 (the C-80 and the camperback will get installed next week, we are leaving the boat at Les's Sunday afternoon), so navigating with the PC and Coastal Explorer plus GPSMAP 76.

I'm going in late today so I can leave early (that's a joke, folks). Should be out of my office around noon, probably won't get away from here for a couple of hours, couple hour drive to DPSP, look for us some time around 7:00 pm.

Well there is NO WAY I will get the boat done in time for this weekend. I have the new shift cable in but don't have the new steering cylinder yet. So, even if I get the boat running today there is no way to steer it! :cry

Have fun up there!

OK all you folks at Blakely Island,

There are a bunch of us that have not been able to make it up there this time and we are looking for any kind of report we can get and as soon as we can get it. A good lap top connection while tied to the boards would be great but most of us will settle for a post when you get home so PLEASE tell us who is there and all that we have missed. It's supposed to be OK to cry yourself to sleep so I may have to do that tonight since we're not there.

I really do hope all that are able to attend will have as much fun as is to be expected at the normal C-Brat gathering. Sorry we're not part of it all and I'm sure others share my feeling so we all look forward to the updates and posts from the gathering.

Tim

Pat- You are starting to sound like a Building Inspector.

Hey,
I resemble that remark! But it's ok now cause Pat isn't just a contract worker, he's now a City employee and doesn't just get to talk about it, now he can really do it.
It's ok though if he'll just make some posts and post a couple of pics.
Pat, you just have a good time cause us tax payers want to hear from you.
Tim
