Noticed that we have October dates set for Sequim & Lake Shasta. Nothing for July or August yet. How about Blakely Island? Should we be setting a date :?:

Yes indeedy, we should. We're still hoping to trailer up to Desolation Sound after the Blakely weekend this year, and kind of figured it would be in the middle of July again. As soon as the dates are picked for Blakely, I can schedule a couple weeks off work to make it all work.

The weekend of July 17/18 looks to be the best choice for us, but we should be able to make any weekend work if we decide early enough. I don't want to go into August too far, because of the river salmon season down here. I also don't want to be too early in July because of the sturgeon season. Those stupid fish have too much control, I tell you.

OK then, as you can see by the new name for this discussion, the Blakely Island gig has been tenatively set for July 16 to July 18. Of course, only a few of us have weighed in on the matter, but it seems to me that the locals pretty much agreed after the fantastic time we had at the first one in 2003, that mid-July would become tradition. If that weekend doesn't work, we can sure bump it around.

We might want to consider a donation cup for the beer guys this year. They brought us a complimentary keg of their fines wares last year, but it didn't last long enough to use all the ice we got to keep it cold. I'm thinking we might need a couple extras this time around, and am willing to chip in for a good part of it.

A few of us have talked idly about the idea of trailering up to Desolation Sound in Canada right after the Blakely weekend. No definite plans have been made yet, but the TyBoo crew still definitely wants to do that. It's something to think about.

This coastal cruiser is looking forward to Blakley Island and the 16-18 of July works for us. We too are planning on a trailer trip up into the Desolation Sound area after Blakely. I spent a few days there about 18 years ago and always wanted to return. Wanted to go back bad enough that I even bought a boat so I could do it so with things set up for a cruise I'm ready.

Mike, how about getting a sign up list for Blakely Island set up--I'm looking forward to July already--have to be careful about wishing my life away at my age though. Wade

Before we go gettin the date set in stone here maybe someone ought to call the Blakely Marina and check with them to see if they have room that weekend. this could become such a big gathering that we could possibly take a majority of the slipps.
Just a thought.......lol........

I'm on it. Just called Blakely Marina and left a message about our July 16-18 intentions. By the way, I believe I made reservations for that weekend when we were there last year. I think she locked us in. Sorry I wasn't more forthcoming with that info.

Well, at least we can count on the weather. I see Da Nerd put Da Catguy in charge! I guess we know who'll be springing for the extra beer.

Extra beer. Yeah, that's what we'll need. Hey, Norma from Blakely Marina called to say she already had us locked in for July 16-18. Now I remember. I made that reservation before I left last July's funfest. What's a little memory loss between water mates?
So, folks, mark your calendar.

I presume we should call Norma to make individual slip reservations?

Pat, I believe so, though Norma's message didn't ask that we make reservations. But last year she requested we do so, and I'll bet you one cold Snoqualmie Falls Wildcat Ale that she'll make the same request this time.
I left her a message this morning that we expect 25 boats, and asked if she desires reservations. Island time, closed today. Give me a day to ascertain same. Norma's number, by the way, is (360)375-6121.

Actually, 25 boats might be light. We had 27 at various times last year, and we know new C-People have since climbed aboard the C-Pod Support Group. Maybe I'll tell Norma we expect 30 boats, and we can have a contest to guess to exact number. Winner receives a free Barber Chair.

Les and/or Dusty plan to be there, as usual. Boat? Who knows? If Les gets it finished probably in Sea Salt -- 24 Skagit Orca (built by C-Dory). If the Orca not finished, probably a 22 CD... but ain't no way the old Duster wants to miss that one.

Dusty

Dusty, did I hear you right? A 24' Orca, WOW! I didn't think you could ever "up" the Tomcat, but this one just might. I'm sure inspector "Rachet" (Cynthia) will be all over that.
