Hey Fellow C-Dory Loving Family!!!
Well, we are about 5 or 6 weeks out from our 1st Annual Gulf Coast C-Dory Owners Gathering….and it is looking to be a blast…with several types/sizes of C-Dory boat represented. Ya gotta love it. To date, we have 14 hulls signed up. There is some planning and logistical work that needs to take place to make this a good time…or …at least make sure we have plenty to eat, drink, places to tie up, hotel rooms to stay in..places to store tow vehicles….and any particular needs that might need to be addresses and/or attempted to be accommodated. So.. I will ask you to answer a few questions for me…and I will start consolidating the information, and pass it out via emails as I build an individual email group for the gathering.
I will be living in Clarksville, TN at that time. I plan to pick up a west coast C-Dory friend at the Nashville airport on Tuesday, Oct 17th. I may also bring one of my nephews who has helped around the BBQ joints to assist in the BBQ pit and meals. So, I today have a head count of 3 folks including myself.
My route will be departing either Clarksville or Nashville on the morning of 18th at around either 630am…or…waiting till about 9am as to allow the poor folks that have to go to work in the Nashville area that morning free access to all the traffic jams, horn honking, finger waving that goes on each morning in a town the size of Nashville. We have about 4 hulls that might or could pass thru Nashville enroute to the gulf coast. We have a family restaurant called Scoreboard Bar and Grill with a very large paved, well lighted parking lot, that we can circle the tow vehicles and vessels, and even get some local security if we prefer staying in the hotel(s) on the property. Yall let me know what you want here.
During the April 05 Nashville Gathering, many of us enjoyed a catered dinner at the Scoreboard followed by a private shuttle to and from the Grand Ole Opry that evening. Not even sure if they do the Opry on Tuesdays…but will check if we have interest.
So, working on good head counts, travel plans if you want to join up with folks enroute, departure days… and if you do or do not plan to stay in the area prior to or after the gathering weekend. That will get us started.
If you use Eastpoint FL in Yahoo search for hotels/motels, you will be in the right area. I have stayed at the Rancho Inn…which is privately owned, must have weekend reservations far in advance…if we could get them now, and then there is the Gibson Hotel which is a real neat place, a bit pricier…but, has a lot of history. The Rancho is very reasonably priced for a hotel that close to the gulf, but do not expect the Hilton, or that little piece of chocolate on your pillow.. but it is very well cleaned, and very very secure for your properties. Boats are always parked there on the weekends. I think there is also a Best Western, but I do not know the owners there, and have never stayed there. I can recommend either the Gibson or the Rancho with no problems.
Send me your plans, your head counts on how many with be with you, and any special needs.
