Good post - before you onsider shrink wrapping her for a few years - check with the dealer/factory to get the transom fixed. As I mentioned above, as long as th caus was not operator error, it should still be under warranty. Of you can get it fixed for free that would up the value,

I said it before and will repeat it. Frequent Sea seems to be honest and sincere. With his offer to onemorebythesea, it would appear that the ball is in onemorebythesea court. Seeing as onemorebythesea is the one that brought up defects in the boat, it is only fitting that he post the survey, or make it available to potential buyers.

Naaa... Atlanta boat show next week, a 3 day trip down to the Gulf to look at and C-Trial another boat, then, a week up to Seattle to see my C-Dory Owning/C-Brat friends for fun...and festivitations and stuff.

But,,, Terry... if you are in NY and it is still warm... how about some other C-Dory owner input from one of use who are familar with these boats...and really looking forward to seeing you back out in Seattle....and your trip back down south.

Some of us have to work????? You mean everybody does not check this site 3 times a day....and comment on just about everything posted... Hummm.. :teeth :smiled :thup

I HAVE A 2004 25CD IT ALSO HAS CRACKS IN TRANSON . I ALSO KNOW OF A 2003 25CD WITH CRACKS IN TRANSOM. I CALLED JEFF HE SAID TO GET A OUOTE TO FIX. I AM ON THE EAST COAST . JEFF SAID THIS IS COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY

I'm One by the Sea's sister-in-law. My husband and I, along with a friend, were the ones looking to maybe make an offer on this boat. My DH is in the freight industry, so we were not daunted by having to get it from NJ to the west coast (for those of you who thought it odd that OBTS was posting from Port Townsend).

The boat certainly looked like a good deal... We received preliminary feedback from the surveyor, which OBTS has already shared -- notes and photos -- and talked with him by phone. Based on that info, we opted not to go ahead with a full survey/sea trial. This was with the input of several knowledgable "boat folks" in the Port Townsend area as well as the surveyor.

I find it disingenuous at best to list a boat in this kind of condition (pretty poor for the age of the boat) for sale without even commenting on the condition of the boat. Although Frequent Sea never said it was in pristine condition, he also never said that it had damage. So although he did not lie, he certainly was not forthcoming with what he should surely know would be information that a potential buyer would want to have up front.

Some of you have stated that the information we were given would not keep you from buying this boat...perhaps not, but it would certainly give you pause, as it did us. In the end, we decided it was too great a risk. We have since found a boat which suits our needs.

As for the quality of the surveyor, I do not want to publicly post the name of the company who looked at it for us, but if someone really wants to know, they can PM me.

Good luck to you, Frequent Sea, in your attempts to sell the boat. I do hope you look into the warranty issue, though I understand that the surveyor was told it was caused by a friend of yours.

Been awhile since I checked the board. Just to let you all know I have been in contact with Bret at C-Dory regarding the warrantee. So far they seem very supportive. I will keep you all updated on the progress on the transom issue. The boat is still on the market and I am taking offers, again I am happy to sell it for what a knowledgable person thinks it is worth....plan B is to store it in a less expensive place till the baby grows a little, work on her over time and break her out in a couple of years.

Regarding the last post and my alleged lack of forthcomingness I would like to point out that my listing lacked lots of vital information including the hours which are 121 by the way. The lack of specific and relavant information is because of my bad posting skills and not deception. If I didn't even post info as important it is understandable that I missed stating the overall condition.

What dealership is the working link between this boat and the factory? I know the factory has in the past done a great job of follow up on warrantee work needed, and/or other things that might have been missed during production/inspection of the boats prior to leaving the plant.

Bret and/or Rich should be on this hull as noted, and feedback soon available to all.

Not sure what a DH is… being baseball season, I was thinking designated hitter.. Being married….maybe Dear Husband. Sweet. Wish my wife of 29+ years would talk about me like that…

Now, a lot of us have had cracks…some worse than others…some simply cosmetic stuff. A lot of us have had to trailer a boat buy ourselves in less than perfect conditions…and the trailer sitting hard to on the ground at the ramp, are much “tuffer” than our fiberglass bottom boats. Nics are results. Note gonna kill the hull…just aint pretty…or good if left unfixed in the water.

Many have posted about water in the bilge areas….and…it would not take long for that to cause a water ring just like in the bath tub at home. Nothing that will kill the boat.

If one trailers the boat often…things come loose…and must be re-tightened, or will just fall down… sorta like my main power line to the bottom of the wallas heater/cooktop did. Once put back in place, and secured a bit… did not kill the boat.

Soft transom… yep…that is a boat killer….and…like I said… between the owner, a dealership, and the factory…this too can and will be addressed….not saying this particular boat does or does not have a soft transom… but a dealership can figure that out.

Now if DH travels cross country…in the months this has been going on…and they want a C-Dory boat…I think I could have/would have parked my truck…took a cab ride to see this hull…maybe even while at the dealership….getting looked at for the factory needs… and not write this hull off.

Cosmetics, ..and possible warrantee work may be needed. SO…..how much does a new C-Dory 25 cruiser go for….that may soon have chips on the bottom from the trailer and loose things from going down the road?

Worth tracking… and not a bad Saturday morning read either.

I'm 99% certain the selling dealer was Cutter in Essex, MD. I do not
know if they have been contacted about the warrantee work.

30,000 + 0 Headache for me equals '25 foor c-dory for you.

The warrentee issue is being taken care of by a private contractor not a dealer since I have no trailor to take it to the dealer. I did buy from cutter.

I have taken a deposit on the boat looks like Bob is gonna take her out west which is probably for the best....Jersey City is no place for a pretty boat like a c-dory!
 
I won't be picking the boat up for about 10 days (have to have a trailer made--unless there is some one in the South or East who has one they do not want). So far things have been very smooth and Jon has been a pleasure to work with. I'll keep you all updated on what the condition of the boat is and what repairs are necessary--and where the Factory stands on the Warantee issue.

The boat will be traveling to PNW and Alaska this summer, then "live" in S. Calif. Maybe we can make my son into a "C Brat" since it will be registered in his name also (He is lurking on the threads--by age 16 he had sailed all around the West Coast, The East Coast, Panama and the Caribbean, The Med and the Baltic on our boat--so he is not a newcommer to boating).

If anyone can fix that boat up (including any factory warranty issues), it's you!

Is there a chance you could get a very good used trailer down in the Gulf area following the hurricane damage? Don't know how hard it would be to find a good match for the boat, though!

Please keep us updated on this project!
