2026 Delta and Bay Extravaganza Sign Up!

Hey Colby, you don't have to worry about launching at Rio Vista if the office is closed. They will settle up with you the next day, no problem, I do it every year. You may have to find alternative/temporary parking on their property, might even have to disconnect your trailer and park your rig in separate spots due to the smaller spaces on that first night (the 17th).

Dora~Jean here,
Since nobody succumbed on my Macaroni salad last year, I'll do it again, fresh at the club.

Karl and Kristie will bring a green salad with dressing on the side. Sad news, Tango (the black lab) will not be joining this year, we lost him to a malignant tumor in his heart this winter.

Bay and Delta Extravaganza Update:

Hello All, the mooring fees for Petaluma are $37. per boat. Please bring exact change for this (a check will work as well). We are trying for a Petaluma bridge opening at 2:00 PM, the bridge opening dictates speed/ departure time from Wheeler Island. We will adapt as best we can given sea conditions.

On a completely different note, Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield is hosting Wings Over Solano - Open House and Air Show featuring the USAF Thunderbirds on Saturday and Sunday, April 25 & 26. Gates open at 9:00 am. If we are lucky we will have planes overhead on our return to Rio Vista. More info at www.WingsOverSolano.com

There are 23 people so prepare as you think best... we don't seem to eat as much these days :)
The first night we are at Wheeler Island John and Robbin will be hosting a BBQ with all the fixins.
The second night we have hamburgers but... in years past we have always managed to catch some fresh Striped Bass for a fish fry!

Remember to bring your own favorite beverage(s) for meals and socialization.
  1. Meat dish for breakfast - Steve and Karen
  2. Eggs for breakfast – John and Laurie
  3. Pastries, muffins for breakfast - Bob and Sarah, Stacey and Lauren
  4. Juice, fruit for breakfast - Kathy and Jim
  5. Hamburgers, buns and condiments - John and Laurie
  6. Green salad with dressing on the side - Karl and Kristie
  7. Macaroni salad - Steve and Carmen
  8. Three bean salad - Colby and Rosanne
  9. Chips and dip - Gary and Colleen
  10. Dessert - Stacey and Laurel
A quick reminder to not put off any of those boat maintenance items that need doing. We will top off fuel in Rio Vista, typically another fuel stop in Sausalito and a last fuel stop, if needed in Benicia. For those that desire to go fast or slow it is no problem, we can stay in communication as needed to assure all reach the final daily destinations.

"As always, each boat captain is solely responsible for his/her own boat’s and passenger’s ultimate safety and wellbeing. Each Skipper is not to rely on the judgement (or lack thereof) of the Pack Commodore.” In short, you are responsible for making sure that both you and your boat are properly prepared for this journey.

We truly look forward to seeing old friends and making some new ones! Please do not hesitate to PM me should you have some questions.

Jim and Cindi will bring a salad. Sorry for the late reply. We are looking forward to seeing everybody!

We are getting getting Slack Time ready! The cobwebs cleared, steering lubed, and new props installed! The dock fee at Petaluma is $37 per boat (all lengths). They prefer cash or check.

Our contact at South Beach Harbor suggests all boaters send a copy of vessel DMV & insurance to her in advance (if you cannot please bring documents to provide in person):

"To make it easy, you are welcome to share my email and request to them to email me directly by adding in SUBJECT Line – C Dory Group Cruise / Boater Name"

Done!

Colleen sent our vessel registration and insurance information to South Beach Harbor and already got a confirmation. Thanks John.

Also, does anyone plan to bring a fishing net for the duck club? I don't want to duplicate the need for one. Thanks.

We have a fishing net on board Serenity. Looking forward to fishing as well.

Colby, I see that you just now crossed into Nevada. Good job! Drive safe.

Question, with all of the miles towing C-Traveler and your previous 22 Cruiser, have you ever gotten a rock chip on any of your 3 forward windows? Just wondering if it pays to do a window covering protection of some sort when doing a lot of highway travel? If anybody, you should know!

Thanks for sharing in your findpenguins travel blog. Gary

We are all hoping for good weather but at this point rain is likely in Petaluma... its a tradition now ;). Gary there are indeed nets at the duck club, but its also reel fun to wade in on the slippery rocks trying tackle a big striped bass that does not generally like the game... been there:). Laurie and I are still getting it together, it seems the last 5% of preparation takes about 20% of my time. Colby cool site to check your progress. Safe Travels to all of our Voyagers! See ya'll in Rio Vista!

I’ve never gotten a rock on the boat windshield. But I did make a protective cover with those foam rubber mattes between some heavy fabric. I did take a rock on the truck windshield on my Alaska’s Inside Passage trip, when a large semi met me on a corner in Canada, throwing rocks off the road. 😡
And on our recent Dale Hollow Lake trip we took some heavy hail in anchorage. I was worried but glad no noticeable damage. Even the solar panels came thru without a scratch! 😊

In the zone. Sea-Spray beat us here.

Seven of us here now on the Delta Marina guest dock. (And one more that is slipped here.) The boats here now, besides C-Traveler and Sea Spray, are Dora Jean, DayBreak, CaliCat, Nowhere Fast, Serenity, and Morning Star (slipped here in Rio Vista). A few of us will take off around 9am tomorrow morning and just cruise slow, then anchor near Wheeler Island to wait for the others. Most of us met at the Pizza Factory this evening for supper. Laurel from Serenity took a selfie of all of us, before I asked a waitress to take a photo for us. :-) When we got back to the marina, Gary and Colleen on DayBreak were taking time to talk to some other folks interested in our boats.

Ok, I can't figure out how to rotate this photo. Tyboo, can you help?
