It really works hard on the microwave.
I hunted long and hard to find a small microwave that has a minimal
draw. A lot of the real small microwaves draw a bunch of power.
I have one with a 600w output, but it draws 850w, The EU 1000 will barely run it and occasionally will trip the overload on the genset.
But fortunately microwaves are usually used for no more than a few minutes at a time.
Texasair, Interesting you posted this info. I have been searching for the best price on a Honda gen and studying the specs on the 1000 and 2000 units. I can have a new 1000 shipped free to my door for $769.99 or a 2000 for $899.99. For the $130 difference you get a 3yr warranty vs. 2yr and a cast iron cylinder sleeve in the 2000. The 2000 is @ 2" longer, wider and taller, which is minor, but the 2000 weighs 46lb vs. 29lb for the 1000, 17lb difference. But the ability to also run a small electric heater on cold mornings, a microwave, electric cooking unit, or other loads now has me leaning for the 2000. The fuel consumption of the 2000 running the AC's 4.5a (30% load) seems to be very close to the 1000 at 60% load. And I'm sure the resale value of the 2000 would be at least $130 more than the 1000 somewhere down the road. The smaller size and weight seem to be the only things in the 1000 column other than a small price difference.
