Although the EU 1000 run the AC fine,
It really works hard on the microwave.
I hunted long and hard to find a small microwave that has a minimal
draw. A lot of the real small microwaves draw a bunch of power.

I have one with a 600w output, but it draws 850w, The EU 1000 will barely run it and occasionally will trip the overload on the genset.
But fortunately microwaves are usually used for no more than a few minutes at a time.

Texasair, Interesting you posted this info. I have been searching for the best price on a Honda gen and studying the specs on the 1000 and 2000 units. I can have a new 1000 shipped free to my door for $769.99 or a 2000 for $899.99. For the $130 difference you get a 3yr warranty vs. 2yr and a cast iron cylinder sleeve in the 2000. The 2000 is @ 2" longer, wider and taller, which is minor, but the 2000 weighs 46lb vs. 29lb for the 1000, 17lb difference. But the ability to also run a small electric heater on cold mornings, a microwave, electric cooking unit, or other loads now has me leaning for the 2000. The fuel consumption of the 2000 running the AC's 4.5a (30% load) seems to be very close to the 1000 at 60% load. And I'm sure the resale value of the 2000 would be at least $130 more than the 1000 somewhere down the road. The smaller size and weight seem to be the only things in the 1000 column other than a small price difference.

I have both an EU 1000 and EU 2000 and both are fine units.
On my boat I have a swimstep on the Port side.
I had just has enough room between the main and kicker on the Starboard side for the Eu 1000 installation.
I wanted a permanent ready to use location, same with the AC.

I have a small fan forced resistance heater that has a 350w and a 700w setting that works for us. Although we prefer our one burner propane unit, we also have a small one burner portable electric stove that maxes out a 700w. The single burner propane is all we need and leaves us with much more counter space.

If you don't mine the little bit of extra weight and size the EU 2000 has many advantages,

Cast iron sleeve, as you mentioned
Longer run time on internal tank
Can run a 1500w heater if you need it, or a larger 6-8000BTU window unit.
Probably a bit quieter since the eco mode will not have to kick the throttle up as much for a specific item.
Will work out better as a home back up unit for hurricane season.
Will run the Coleman Polar Cub roof unit.

The EU 1000 works for us but if you can find a good spot for it the EU 2000 would be a excellent choice.

I might add that an Air conditioned C-Dory makes an excellent land RV.
We just returned from a family campout with grandkids that exceeded the living capacity of our small motorhome.
Plugged in the C-Dory on the adjacent campsite as a second RV.

Roy,
I have owned several of both the 2000 and 1000. The major reason I have the 1000 currently is the weight, and my back. Other than that, I would have the 2000. It has a lot more to offer, for very close to the same size. On the other hand, the 1000 is adequate for what we use. We have one of the 600/1200 watt heaters, and the 1000 does fine on the 600 watt setting. I doubt that any of us will wear either of those out. I have an smaller (about 500 watt) dating back to the 70's and it still runs fine--just have to be sure that the carburetor is properly drained after each use.

Today I went to Camping World and viewed a 2000 they had on display. I could handle the weight with no problem. I lift a 45lb dumb bell for regular exercise, so the 2000 felt about the same. I will only need to lift it to table height to place it on the aft shelf I plan to build for it. I just ordered a 2000 with a Honda cover on-line for $180 less than I would pay at CW. Shipping was free. Check "Electric Generator Depot" web page.

Now to get busy installing the AC.
