I just heard from a friend that Jim Cress, owner of Skipper Cress Yachts and CEO of Nordic Tug, died in a motorcycle accident. Skipper Cress Yachts had become a Ranger Tug dealer also last year. I remember him as always being upbeat and enthusiastic about Tugs and boating in general.
Here's an article from the local paper:

That is tragic news.

I love bikes but they are not forgiving. In fact I just returned from a 1000 mile ride through the French Alps and one of my buddies is still there in the hospital. He went into a corner too fast and had a spectacular wreck. Fortunately he will be OK after a somewhat long recovery time but he has been in the hospital for three weeks today and not yet cleared for the 8.5 hour return flight. They need to do another surgery to remove dried blood from around his lungs that will hopefully address a persistent fever.

Sad, indeed. The boating community has lost one of the good guys.

Sad - I almost bought a used 32' Nordic tug from him prior to buying SeaDNA - nice guy.

Our thoughts are with his family and friends. We stepped onto a Skipper Cress R-25 on Lake Union last January, rafted up next to a Nordic 32. We knew in minutes we were about to become boat owners.

Thanks man.

I heard the news Monday when I got to Ranger Tugs .He was clearly an asset to the boating industry . The mood was somber at Ranger and even though I didn't know him , I wish the best for his family and business.

Certainly a loss. I had the pleasure of meeting him briefly this summer. He was a very dynamic man.

Roger, Thanks for posting the article link. Though we did not know him, it is apparent that he was a very good man, a blessing to those around him, a joy to know and his loss will be evident in many lives. The boating community will miss him. Our sincere condolences to his family, friends and co-workers.
