Just north of Mount Vernon (about an hour or so ago) Sea Shift was headed south on I-5.

Hi Joe and Ruth.......yep, that was definitely us! We just concluded a delightful 6 days and 5 nights in the San Juans. We launched in our now favorite launching site for the San Juans....Bellingham Launch Ramp! As already mentioned, we saw Wild Blue shortly after launching. Our first night out was at Sucia where we met a couple on a sailboat who ironically had just one month ago met a buddy of mine in Montana that recently purchased 60 acres there. My buddy still has a house 1/2 mile from me and we use to ride our horses on cattle drives together. (Small World!)
Then as Jim already mentioned he and Joan spent some time with us at Deer Harbor. We thoroughly enjoyed meeting and talking with them! (Jim, glad that you and Joan saw whales!).
On one of our days out, we circumnavigated San Juan Island. It was extremely calm on the straits off Lime Kiln lighthouse, however we did not see any whales. So, at the end of our journey, we fueled up in Friday Harbor and as we departed F.H. enroute back to Deer Harbor, we saw three Orcas 1/4 mile from the F.H. ferry dock. Carol managed to click off several good pix of them.
Today on our cruise from Deer Harbor to Bellingham, we beached Sea Shift at Clark Island and walked on the island for a brief spell.
Upon entering Bellingham we saw the vessel Journey On tied to the dock where we had the gathering last month, however no one was on board the vessel.

Yeah, it used to be "sightings" - fleeting glimpses of a boat going the other way on a freeway or something, now it seems like there are more and more serendipitous meetings in Puget Sound, the San Juans, the Gulf Islands, Desolation Sound or even the Inside Passage, as there are more and more C-Dorys out and about moving around during these summer vacation months. The cool thing is that during the rest of the year the percentage of C-Dorys as a total of the boats on the water goes up! Fret not, it will happen in your neck of the woods one of these days too!

Reading about all these unplanned meetings among you on the left coast makes me a little jealous.

It has been our fortune to run into other C-Dory owners these past few weeks; delightful folks, all. Each of those chance meetings has presented us with an opportunity for friendship and the coveted "local information." We certainly understand the attraction this area holds and why the concentration of people and boats during the two months of "summer" in the PNW. :wink

We were asked, "Will Texas be boring after this?" No, absolutely not. The scenery, water, and close proximity of these islands has made this a great start to our C-Dory cruising and an unforgetable good time. So many great options!

As I look out the dinette window of the boat this morning, I can see that some of the leaves have started to turn color. Fall is a beautiful time of year, but right now we are looking for a bit of "endless summer." We are looking forward to working our way south and introducing Wild Blue to the Tropical Tip of Texas and its unique charm. Jeff Messmer told me that they are seeing more buying activity and interest from Texas. Great thing about these trailerable boats: instead of waiting out a steamy summer or a gray winter, we can go where the weather suits our clothes and the water suits our boats. The Texas Gulf Coast covers a lot of miles... our C-Dory meetings may not be so serendipitous. We're excited about where Wild Blue will take us... the Gulf Coast... east to Florida... north... and many more "sightings".

Thanks NW folks for making our time here so special. Hope we get the chance to reciprocate one day. A few more days on the water here before we pull out.

Best wishes,
Jim B.

On the way to the Roche Harbor Customs dock after 3 glorious days in Victoria B.C. saw a 22 about 1/4 mile ahead of us but we were in the no wake zone and never saw who it was. lots of rods on the rocket launchers. Then after clearing customs and enjoying breakfast saw Miss-T dark blue 22 cruiser, twin 40's, tied up to a buoy in a little bay at the entrance to Roche Harbor from the northwest side.

At approximately 1400 HRS today we saw a 22' Grey accented C-Dory, being towed south on I-5 between Arlington and Marysville. (It sure is difficult getting a good description of vessels heading 65 MPH in the opposite direction of the 65 MPH that I'm heading.....can't even tell you about the tow rig, but did see lots of fishing gear on board the C-Dory). We didn't see any name on the vessel.

Could be impossible to read a name at a combined speed of 130 MPH! :-)

We are now at Lake Tahoe... and pulling into the ramp area had the pleasure to meet Steve aboard Gizmo, a fine looking 16 foot C-Dory. As with all the C-Brats we have met, Steve was friendly and provided us with good local information. El and Bill have mentioned "serendipity" regarding their cruising... so far, so good for us as well!

The scenery here is spectacular and the water is fresh... looking foward to "power flushing" the motor and hull! :wink

Loving the ease of trailering almost as much as the great boat.

Best wishes,
Jim & Joan B.

I've sure enjoyed your postings.
I believe I saw you folks pulling south on I-205 through Vancouver WA a few days ago...twas a nice 25'er with a arch on the back

Hey, who was that headed South through the Tacoma Narrows about 5:30pm yesterday (Sunday 8/27) on a red 22' or 25'? I was the blue 22 Cruiser pointed North but standing still because of the currents! :smilep

How true.....but certainly presents a challenging road game....(especially with bifocals).... :wink ....you noticed that I didn't even see the tow rig... :disgust

Saturday morning while towing my C-dory south on I-81 back from the 1000 islands I passed a 22' c-dory heading North on I-81 near Oneida Lake, NY. Appeared to have a for sale sign on it?

Saw someone going southbound on I-5 in Corning, CA yesterday about 10:30am. I think it was a 22 but couldn't get much else, I was doing about 85 on my way home from the bay area and noticed it at the last second. Looked nice though!!

Saw several 22 anglers at Newport Oregon for the coho second opening last weekend. Also saw Ramblin Rose, a cabernet 22 cruiser.

Grey 22 footer with twin honda fourties, name on vessel was the c-geezer seen in Bothell making its way North to I-5. Seen at 6:15am under the cover of darkness trying to get an early start on a great day to be on the water. Dan.

In the slip across the dock from my 17 Whaler at Fish Creek, Cape San Juan, San Juan Island, none other than ... Da Nag. I left a note on the "windshield."

We have new neighbors at the dock in Newport -- Stafford II, a TomCat -- appears to be registered in Connecticut!
Anyone know these folks?

I've never seen anyone at the TC, but the name Stafford II has been removed and now it's got Oregon registration numbers...still haven't met the owners.

Squalicum Harbor Monday about noon: Just met Hank Brooks of Bend, OR. His green 25CD which has an awesome selection of electronics on board is named SEA SKIPPER. He's up here to cruise the San Juans & Canada for a couple of weeks....right now the winds are quite light so he's taking advantage of the good weather to head north.

As I was leaving my favorite hardware store in Woodland I spotted a sharp looking 16 footer headed back from the up the Lewis river...anybody been up to any of those reservours up there lately :)

Hi Ruth & Joe,

Hank also has my absolutely all-time favorite tow vehicle. If you get a chance, ask him to show you through it. Wow!!!!!
