Mussic to my ears.....a gaggle of C-Dorys and a Sea Ray Dealer!

Home Sweet Home!

Thanks Chromer. It was good to see you at the ramp. Here's the story about backing trailers. A guy with a brand new 26' Bayliner, a wife and two kids asked me if I would back his trailer down the ramp. A very nice young man, he really didnt know much in the way of preparation, Although I think he did have bumpers he had no lines attached, etc. AnywayI backed it down the ramp to where there is a balloon which says "END OF RAMP!" I couldnt get the big heavy Bayliner to float. He told me to keep backing up, I , how do you say it, demurred. He actually told me that if the back axle goes off the ramp the front axle will still be on. Who am I to argue with such logic. So I got out, he got in, and backed it up and it actually worked like he said! We said our goodbyes and I walked back up to Dotty ,my Volvo and my 16 footer. When Chromer came up to me I was muttering something like "Thank you Jesus", for all three.

We were on our way to the museum near Stevenson Wa. I have not been there before but my grand mother really likes the place. as I'm driving on the oregon side of the river in a pouring rain, I noticed a red C-dory anchored up and fishng . Did not see a name on the boat.

Then today on the way home we saw a c-dory near bremerton. green I think. Good to see that some one was out using there boats.

While heading out on Lake Pend Orielle to do some fishing, I ran into (practically) C Dog and his planer board  . Sorry about that!
He is the first CDory I have seen on any body of water in this area. So I was a little excited.
I'm looking forward to my next contact with a fellow CDory owner.

I fished Possession Point (near Seattle for you out of towners) today. I was in a friend's Woolridge as my boat's in the shop. Spotted 2 C-Dory boats. One was an older red 16 foot angler the other was a blue and looked like a 22' cruiser. Neither had a name on them. The blue one was fairly old as it has the wood tone bulk head.

I thought I was going to pass a C-Brat on the freeway this morning, but, as I closed in on the boat in question I sees it's the WSU research vessel again They have nice looking 22 angler with a pot puller.

Going over I-90 to Outdoor Emporium on Saturday, I thought I spotted my CheckPoint II off of Pleasure Pt. (Between Mercer Isl. and Bellevue). After thinking this through :idea , I came to the conclusion it must be Marty on "Lizzy". Later I pulled into the boat ramp and saw the tell tale sign - a white volvo wagon and trailer.

Am I right? Anyone? Marty?

Yup, that was us. It was Dotty's first time aboard since she got her new knee on Dec. 19. We cruised up to Fisherman's termninal and had a nice lunch on a beautiful day. There were two or three dealers at the ramp with new boats and owners/buyers. Our little C-Dory got some admiring looks and comments. I hope we'll be spotting the Checkpoint II out there soon.

Marty-

Glad to hear Dotty is doing well with her new knee!

Did you make any accomodations for her in the boat, like having a stool in one corner of the cockpit next to the bulkhead so the step down could be done in several small steps?

We missed you this year in Seattle!

Joe.

Thanks Joe. Yes I put in the Garelick oak cockpit steps which are easily moveable to either side. We had them on our 22' and they are useful not only as steps but also as a seat and for storing fenders behind them. I did make it to the boat show on Saturday by myself but just got too pooped out to get to the factory that evening. I am sure sorry now that I missed it. You can tell from everybody's smiles what a great time it was. And that picture of the unholy trinity in their pirate hats makes me proud to be a....brat. No wonder the cruise was on the ARG-o-C. See you next year. In the meantime, this a great neighborhood to be in. :peace:

OK, Patty and I were visiting at my cousin's house near Lake Whatcom in Bellingham yesterday, decided to go down to Bloedel Donovan Park to scope out the launch ramp on the lake...Saw a blue CD22 being retrieved, went right down and introduced ourselves. Dick and Julie were retrieving their boat, no name on it right now, but it is going to be HobbEs...nice little chat on the dock. Have not boated on Lake Whatcom since 1968, was going to give it a try today in the CD16 but much too windy...best part, the ramp has no fee!

Earlier in the day yesterday, had a nice visit from Lee Kincaid (Kincade?) from Bellingham at the Crab Palace in Birch Bay . Lee bought a CD25 at the boat show, chatted about a variety of boating topics. I will be real interested to see this one out on the water, has the Merc 150 with the electronic controls...

Hi Folks,

Got a new sighting yesterday.

While passing through Cohasset Massachusetts, just across from the church in the movie WITCHES FROM EASTWICK, I spotted a boat with a covering on it. I took a quick U turn, went into the driveway, and knocked on the door. I was met my a man eating dog, but the boat owner came to the side window and asked if he could help me. I answered with a comment," You can not hide a C-dory from a C-dory owner." This got a smile from the owner, and he came out a side door, and we met.

He is a very happy man. He has the 16' cruising model, and spends a lot of time fishing. He likes it because of the protection from the weather, and the fact that he can hold the fishing rod with one hand as he runs the boat. When he gets a strike, he just spins the seat, and brings the fish in. He said that he goes down to the shore, and if he spots fish, in a half of an hour, he is at the fishing grounds, launch included.

He said that he purchased the boat from an owner who purchased it new, only to find out that his wife gets sea sick. I told him that I would have traded the wife in and kept the boat.

Good advice - the boat will last longer than most marriages and will not sag in the stern with age! (I love my wife of nearly 26 years so don't repeat this to her and yes, my stern is sagging more).

I didn't spot a C-Dory but I did spot a silver car near Woodinville the other day with the license plate "R-Matey" - Is this the car of Joe and Ruth?

Mike and Brenda are "up river" on the Cumberland River spending the weekend on the boat with their Grandsons, and spotted a CD-22C, green with a high top. .... at a dock. We are going to have to find out just who this boat owner is... and let'm know about this site, and the Cumberland River CBGT in April 07.

I had dinner with a friend last night who had just returned from a long stay on Maui. He said he saw a boat just like mine crossing Maalea Harbor every morning. The water was so rough one day that he didn't expect to see it but there it was slowly making way through some very high waves. Any Hawaiian C-Dory people on the site?
