C-Dory Sightings

C-Bill, good call. I have my Sunset magazine right here and I was going to ask Peter and Caryn the same question. Silly me, I thought I'd be the first to spotlight our shimmering, now-famous couple.

Man, I gotta get up a little earlier than noon if I think I can score a coup around these here parts.

My wife and I are going to sneak into that area sometime next year, when the salmon are biting. In fact, we might be looking for a summer residence. Keep your eye's open! We do like that area. :D You'd spot me quicker pulling the boat.

We went to Saturna right after we saw you at Deer Harbor back in June! Funny how things happen, huh?

We spotted "The Flying Scotsman" being trailered on Sun. 9/27/2009 on I-80/94 (Westbound), near the Illinois/Indiana state line. Wish we would have snapped a photo!

After reading their past posts, me tinks' they were enroute to the Mighty Mississippi.

I came across "Safety Valve" sitting in a slip at Alton Marina in Alton, Illinois on Saturday night. Recognized the canvas work from afar as being the same folks who made mine in Proctor, MN. The boat came from my dealer, Northwest Outlet in Superior, WI. You guys get to see other examples of these great boats a lot more frequently than I do, for the most part. It was great to see another one in my part of the world, particularly with the same dealer lineage. There just ain't many of us around here.

The top of the boat had a sign up on top that read, "St. Louis Confluence Riverkeeper". I have contacted the fellow who is "the Riverkeeper" for the confluence of the Mississippi, Illinois, and Missouri rivers, and hope to hear from him. The Riverkeepers apparently are a group of folks who try to independently keep an eye on water quality and educate folks about the same. Admittedly, I had never heard of them before this encounter.
 
While out for a walk in Gig Harbor, WA we saw the Miss Lee. This picture is from my phone, so not the best!

Diana and I saw a nice little 16 a mile or so above Willamette Falls yesterday ( 10/18 ). There was no place to pull over and gawk, so I didn't get much of a chance to see who it might be.

Yesterday (Saturday), I saw a blue 22' Angler sitting on a trailer at The Alton Motorboat Club (anyway, I think that's what their sign said). If I read the name right, it said "Elle Nino" (as opposed to "El Nino"). It looked like State a Mind in St. Louis sold it. It could have been a 19' (I couldn't get close...it was a private club), but I'm thinkin' it was a 22'.

Maybe if one of the guys at State a Mind picks this up, they could comment.

Absolutely gorgeous day on the Mississippi River yesterday...shoulda brought the boat.
 
Saw two new C-Dory cruisers in the Wyoming desert last Friday. Most likely a 22 and a 25 footer. They were at a rest stop off Interstate 80 on a big flat bed truck and most likely headed to one of the eastern dealers. It was -22 degrees here the day before, so if headed to Florida its going to be a big change. we were headed to the Denver Event Center for our sons graduation from Regis University with a Masters in Education. Anyway sure hope the boats were new from the factory.

I took a drive up to La Conner on Saturday to check on my fathers boat and make sure nothing was frozen and everything was ship shape. While walking up the dock I saw not other then Dave of the Anna Leigh cruising by in her full Coast guard auxiliary gear. I turned on the Vhf in the old mans boat and gave him a call. Seems they were out as a safety boat for a rowing kayaking event at the pass. Funny how no matter why I'm near the water I always see a c-dory.
 
We spotted "Water Boy" as a CG auxiliary boat on 12/19 in St. Helens, Oregon. Thanks for being out for our Christmas Ships Parade, Water Boy and crew! We really appreciate all you do for us!

Also saw Hyggelig (spelling?) moored at RiverPlace Marina in downtown Portland while we were there for the 2 weeks of Christmas Ships. We heard through the grapevine you were interested in joining us next year! You should definitely decorate and come out with us. We have a blast every year in our 16ft little "Seaweed"!
 
Last Friday, Going N-bound on I-5 205 just N of Vancouver, WA, a 22 cruiser, red stripe with a short name, maybe Scout, but not sure, could read that fast :roll:

We blinked and waved, but going South, and across the median, the cars next to us just thought we were crazy..........maybe they are right :lol:

You better do something about that. Something good for your heart and the boat... something like taking the boat out for a day on the water.

Here's your prescription: take two boat rides and call me after the weekend if you and your boat don't feel better. Rx

We pulled into Poulsbo Saturday around noon and parked next to a 22 cruiser, green stripe like ours, with no name. On returning from lunch it was gone but a late model 22 named DogHouse was parked there. They had motored up from Point Defiance.
 
The new West Marine "2010" annual Catalog has a picture of what looks like a 19ft Angler C-Dory coming in an inlet with a light house. I would guess it is on the East coast. Check page 136.

Maybe someone can pin it down.
