Hi
Does anybody know that boat?

LINK

Is the boat ok? :?
39K to mutch? :? :?
Its mutch more than we normally want to spend, but a 24 Cat would be the perfect boat for our 2007 Exp.
Any advice?? :? :?

The boat is owned by Wayne Arrants in South Carolina and he is selling it on consignment. His email address is berkely_arrants@ml.com or call Bulldog Boatwerks sales staff for details. The boat does not have a trailer but one can be easily purchased locally. I saw the boat this summer but had time constraints and did not make a offer or deposit to take a test ride. The are several messages in archives posted myself and others including Wayne. Without taking a test ride, I thought boat was in great shape and had many extras. I did not see any major problems and IHMO the boat was very well maintained and lightly used but I am not expert. The boat is very roomy in the cabin and cockpit. I spoke with Al Rodriguez and he was very helpful and informative. If the engines are ok and w/o any major problems then this is one roomy quick boat for a couple or a family.

I hope this helps.

Good Luck!!

Boat/US has an interesting service whereby they provide price quotes on boats.
The difference between a Boat/US quote and an NADA or BUC quote is that
a person actually does the work.

I don't recall the exact range they gave for this boat, but I remember the
asking price was in the range they gave.

Check the forums for past articles. Looking for posts by either brent or
myself will make it easy to find the posts (look us up in the member list
and then click on 'posts by member' or whatever it says).

chris-

The TC 24 with two 100 hp Yamaha 4-strokes would use a lot more fuel than a CD-22, but maybe the increased carrying power of the larger hull would make up for it by carrying more fuel. Have you thought this out? Joe.

Hi

Our main speed on the way would be around 10-20KMH. :thup

The dealer told me it would use 4 Gallon at that speed. :?

The bad thing is the boat has no trailer. :amgry

What would cost a trailer for the boat?

Thank you all for your help

If you look at the other posts on this boat, there are some questions about the compression in the engines on this TC. Most likely they will be OK if run--but consider that they might have to be replaced. The boat has been for sale for a some time. The engines need to be run hard after lubing or putting Sea Foam in to be sure that the rings are free.

I personally would rather have a C Dory in rough river water than the TC 24 at low speeds. The TC will ride well in chop up to 2 1/2 to 3 feet. The TC is moderately effecient at 6 mph and less effecient at 12 MPH. I am sure that you will do better than 4 gal an hour at 6 mph (~10K) But you may use slightly more at 12 mph (~20K). At 20 K you will be dragging the tunnel aft between the hulls--and this is not effecient. I also feel that the cats are more sensitative to weight than the semi dory hull form is. The other issue is the draft. I belive that the draft engines up is greater on the TC 24 than the C D 22. I don't know if this will be an issue for you or not.

I think that you will find the bunk on the TC 24 much better than the CD 22.

I think that this boat is a good buy--assuming that the engines are OK.
A new trailer will cost in the $5000 on up range. As I recollect my TC 255 trailer was $7500, but it had some extras you may not need, and the TC 24 is lighter, thus lower capacity trailer.

Yes, I agree that is the price I was quoted over the phone but lack the details. There is a local trailer company to contact for the specs. You also need to consider the tow vehicle since this boat is heavier than 22' CD if you planning on alot of travelling. I was planning on using 1/2 ton (1500 series) Suburban but 3/4 ton series would be better.

My personal thoughts is that the engines are fine just needs a couple of hours on the water then check the compression.

The boat has lots of glass esp upfront so AC unit would be helpful in SW Florida.

Actually I am surprised that the boat was is still for sale. :D

There are several older 22' CD for sale and posted that in excellent shape and well maintained around $20,000 with trailer and lots of extras. One has a new engine.

my 2 cents worth

Hi

Well the dealer in florida wasn't of any help! :amgry

So we will forget the Cat 24. :x

We will focus on a 22 again.

I personally like the Duck very mutch. :thup

We will see what will happen....

I will fly end of this month to florida. :D

My cousin lives in fort lauderdale, will be fun to see him again. :)

Thanks for your advice about the cat 24. :thup

For what it's worth. My neighbor has a TC 24 and towed it once with a 1/2 ton truck--he feels that a 3/4 or one ton would be better.

Good luck.

If you have time there is a C-Dory dealer close to Bob. It is Wefings and the url is http://wefings.com/

Three Rivers http://www.threeriversmarineinc.com/ north of Tampa sells Cape Cruisers. Their site shows them selling C-Dory boats but none are listed. Both dealers have answered my emails promptly.

Wefings lists their inventory here
http://www.boattraderonline.com/gallera ... tml?750707

Three Rivers has their inventory on their site and image comparsion between CD and CC boats.

Craig's list is an useful tool. Here is the Florida cities listing

You gotta wonder what's up with them, or is it that boat. They
were quite helpful at one point, and then totally unhelpful.

Anyhow...you are headed down the same road I recently went.

Also, check out Cutter Marine in Essex, Baltimore.

http://www.cuttermarineinc.com/

They only advertise their used boats locally. Come to think of it,
they only advertise their new inventory locally as well. Dunno
why. Nice people. They brokered the boat we bought. So, you'll
need to call them, I guess.

Chris,
If you are in in NW Florida in the end of November or first part of Dec, please drop by. We always have an extra bedroom or two, plus RV pad and place to park a boat. We are also having a "end of hurricane season" patry on Dec 1 and Dec 2 (for two different groups)--and if any other C Dory members are in the area, come on by. We can put you in touch and get a ride on a TC 24 and TC 255, plus talk with several CD 22 owners.

@ Thataway

Thanks a lot for inviting us! :thup

Would be fun to see some boats ond owners.

I will drop you a mail when we are in florida.
