C-Dory Tomcat - 24'

The boat is owned by Wayne Arrants in South Carolina and he is selling it on consignment. His email address is berkely_arrants@ml.com or call Bulldog Boatwerks sales staff for details. The boat does not have a trailer but one can be easily purchased locally. I saw the boat this summer but had time constraints and did not make a offer or deposit to take a test ride. The are several messages in archives posted myself and others including Wayne. Without taking a test ride, I thought boat was in great shape and had many extras. I did not see any major problems and IHMO the boat was very well maintained and lightly used but I am not expert. The boat is very roomy in the cabin and cockpit. I spoke with Al Rodriguez and he was very helpful and informative. If the engines are ok and w/o any major problems then this is one roomy quick boat for a couple or a family.

Boat/US has an interesting service whereby they provide price quotes on boats.
The difference between a Boat/US quote and an NADA or BUC quote is that
a person actually does the work.
I don't recall the exact range they gave for this boat, but I remember the
asking price was in the range they gave.
Check the forums for past articles. Looking for posts by either brent or
myself will make it easy to find the posts (look us up in the member list
and then click on 'posts by member' or whatever it says).

The dealer told me it would use 4 Gallon at that speed. :?
The bad thing is the boat has no trailer. :amgry

If you look at the other posts on this boat, there are some questions about the compression in the engines on this TC. Most likely they will be OK if run--but consider that they might have to be replaced. The boat has been for sale for a some time. The engines need to be run hard after lubing or putting Sea Foam in to be sure that the rings are free.
I personally would rather have a C Dory in rough river water than the TC 24 at low speeds. The TC will ride well in chop up to 2 1/2 to 3 feet. The TC is moderately effecient at 6 mph and less effecient at 12 MPH. I am sure that you will do better than 4 gal an hour at 6 mph (~10K) But you may use slightly more at 12 mph (~20K). At 20 K you will be dragging the tunnel aft between the hulls--and this is not effecient. I also feel that the cats are more sensitative to weight than the semi dory hull form is. The other issue is the draft. I belive that the draft engines up is greater on the TC 24 than the C D 22. I don't know if this will be an issue for you or not.
I think that you will find the bunk on the TC 24 much better than the CD 22.
I think that this boat is a good buy--assuming that the engines are OK.

Yes, I agree that is the price I was quoted over the phone but lack the details. There is a local trailer company to contact for the specs. You also need to consider the tow vehicle since this boat is heavier than 22' CD if you planning on alot of travelling. I was planning on using 1/2 ton (1500 series) Suburban but 3/4 ton series would be better.
