Critter Corner

Ray -

The kids like the looks of Jess' new little mutt, too. Took me a long time to get my computer back when I showed them this thread. Which side of the fence is the momma dog on? And whose mutt knocked the fence board loose?

I got the pup from a fishing buddy of mine. He owned the female Choclate lab.
He sure is a character and has his fathers strong traits... more on that at the dock...
Anyway, I will have to post up some more puppy pics as he is already growing like a weed. Smart little whip too. He is pretty much potty trained at only 3 days into the program. I guess we'll keep him.

How Many Dogs Does It Take to Change A Light Bulb?
1. Golden Retriever: The sun is shining, the day is young, we've got our whole lives ahead of us, and you're inside worrying about a stupid burned out bulb?
2. Border Collie: Just one. And then I'll replace any wiring that's not up to code.
3. Dachshund: You know I can't reach that stupid lamp!
4. Rottweiler: Make me.
5. Boxer: Who cares? I can still play with my squeaky toys in the dark.
6. Lab: Oh, me, me!!!!! Pleeeeeeeeeze let me change the light bulb! Can I? Can I? Huh? Huh? Huh? Can I? Pleeeeeeeeeze, please, please, please!
7. German Shepherd: I'll change it as soon as I've led these people from the dark, check to make sure I haven't missed any, and make just one more perimeter patrol to see that no one has tried to take advantage of the situation.
8. Jack Russell Terrier: I'll just pop it in while I'm bouncing off the walls and furniture.
9. Old English Sheep Dog: Light bulb? I'm sorry, but I don't see a light bulb?
10. Cocker Spaniel: Why change it? I can still pee on the carpet in the dark.
11. Chihuahua: Yo quiero Taco Bulb.
12. Pointer: I see it, there it is, there it is, right there ...
13. Greyhound: It isn't moving. Who cares?
14. New Zealand Sheep Dog: First, I'll put all the light bulbs in a little circle...
15. Poodle: I'll just blow in the Border Collie's ear and he'll do it. By the time he finishes rewiring the house, my nails will be dry.

The Cat's Answer:
"Dogs do not change light bulbs. People change light bulbs. So, the real question is: How long will it be before I can expect some light, some dinner, and a massage?"

ALL OF WHICH PROVES, ONCE AGAIN, THAT WHILE DOGS HAVE MASTERS, CATS HAVE STAFF.
What is a Cat?
1. Cats do what they want.
2. They rarely listen to you.
3. They're totally unpredictable.
4. When you want to play, they want to be alone.
5. When you want to be alone, they want to play.
6. They expect you to cater to their every whim.
7. They're moody.
8. They leave hair everywhere.
CONCLUSION: They're tiny women in little fur coats.
What is a Dog?
1. Dogs spend all day sprawled on the most comfortable piece of furniture in the house.
2. They can hear a package of food opening half a block away, but don't hear you when you're in the same room.
3. They can look dumb and lovable all at the same time.
4. They growl when they are not happy.
5. When you want to play, they want to play.
6. When you want to be alone, they want to play.
7. They leave their toys everywhere.
8. They do disgusting things with their mouths and then try to give you a kiss.
9. They go right for your crotch as soon as they meet you.
CONCLUSION: They're tiny men in little fur coats.

I have been searching for the perfect pet for a C-Dory. Finally found one. Have not located a breeder yet, though... They must be rare.

The Catguin was developed after many years of looking for two compatable species which would produce a superior hybrid. It is considered particularly well suited to the boating life.

Among its attributes:

1. Compatable diet. Both parent species love fish.

2. Unlike most pets, the Catguin is perfectly capable of finding and procuring its own food. If it meows for food, just toss it overboard.

3. It is capable of re-boarding the boat without assistance. It simply leaps out of the water into the cockpit. Just let it into the cabin when it meows at the door.

4. No litter box needed. Once more, just toss it overboard.

5. You never have to walk it for exercise. If you choose, it will draw a crowd at any dock, though.

6. Single guys claim it is the world's greatest "chick magnet." 8)

7. I am told that their breeding habits are,"unusual." I'm not sure I want to know what that means.

Back together again but just for the day. Looky who came to pay us a visit!

1 year ago this week we had to re-home Captain Elliot. He's very happy & healthy in his new home.
Today he attended Jamie's Brownie Troop meeting as the guest speaker!
The girls were taught how to act around dogs by their leader & me, Elliot performed all his old tricks then decided
to dive into the middle of them and expose his tummy for rubs! I think he had a good day.

Hey, it's my old buddy Capt Elliot, glad to hear he's a happy dog. Me thinks you should have traded him in for one of them there Catquins.....I want a catquin, I'm going to get one and change my screen name to catquinman :)

Bill, just to compliment you on those good looking dogs. A year ago my son was finishing his student teaching and lived just down the road from the Michigan Weimeraner Rescue home. He spent a couple of afternoons there a week just associating with the dogs. Then he brought one home, I am sure he hoped we would keep it. It was a splendid young male. But, at the time we had our 12 year old Germand Shepherd (died October, 2004) and I would not allow anything to interfere with her comfort. She was pretty arthritic and couldn't take much bumping around. I have a new dog, a red poodle being trained as a fishing dog, as of January. My son, now teaching full time, says he will have a Weimeraner this summer as soon as his housing is settled. I have been going to obedience classes (really owner training classes) with my pup, Gordie. The first two classes the instructor brought along a graduate student level dog to impress the new students. We were impressed! The dog was a Weimeraner. Those gray ghosts are great.

We recently were saddened by the loss of Shadow, our beloved Great Dane and family member for ten wonderful years. I couldn't bring myself to post this loss at the time, but after several weeks, the pain and difficulties are becoming easier. She will always be with us in our hearts, and I will always remember all the time we spent together, both at home and in Sea Wolf. On board, she was my First Mate and companion extrodinaire. She was the best ever. We miss her dearly, everyday, everywhere. We can take solace in that we had so much time together with our lives blessed with mutual love. We miss you....

Now on the upbeat side, we have a new addition (yet unnamed). She is four weeks old and still with her mother and siblings, but will be with us in about a month or a little less. She's a Dane, also, and will help fill that void left by the passing of Shadow. Joe.

Joe,
My thoughts are with you Joe, I remember well what a faithful friend Shadow was to you, when I met the two of you at Lake Shasta at the gathering several years back. I know you spent a lot of quality time together.
