Up here in cold, rainy Seattle, we're experiencing a phenomenon that usually occurs in late January through mid-February. We get a week or so of spring-like sunny weather, I'm talking temps in the 60's(!), making everyone think that spring is right around the corner. Unfortunately, it doesn't last and winter comes back with a vengeance for the next 6-8 weeks or so. I've just learned to enjoy and appreciate it when it does happen.
I thought I'd attach my original thoughts on the matter, posted a couple of years ago, as a reminder that this seems to happen almost every year. Of course, it didn't happen last year (2011). Oh well, that's why we love the PNW, right?
