Goodbye Oscar

So sorry to hear about Oscar, C-Brat gatherings won't be the same without him. We know how hard it is to lose a furry family member and we will be thinking of you.

Pat, Patty & Austin – as an animal lover, I know how you must feel. The circumstances of the tragic event makes it worse. I wish I had the ability to ease you pain, but only time will. I am sorry for your loss.
 
To a C-Dory loving family who would put their own son (sorry Austin) on the bank in a tent to allow some indigent care red-neck the bunk inside the boat, only to be joined by a happy bunk-mate, my condolences.

Oscar boy.... you brightened many a day for many a boater. You will be truly missed at our gatherings.

Oooooh Patty.... Ooooooo Pat....... such a tragedy for such a caring family... I am soooo crushed at Oscar's passing. I have felt a degree of closeness to that little guy from seeing his sweet, ornery mug in so many photos here and hearing of his adventures. I think animals have a way of natural communication that soars above our primitive human language. Just seeing Oscar in a neat pic in the middle of a busy, stressful day has brought comfort and a chuckle to me many times. I feel a bit guilty for that relief now that he, the innocent source of so many good feelings, is gone.

Patty here. I couldn't wait to get to school this morning and boot up the C-Brat site to read more of your wonderful words about Oscar. They are really, really comforting and I thank you all. Yesterday was just the hardest day to get through ever. Saturday was the fifth best day of our lives (3 births and 1 previous college graduate) as we attended the college graduation of the lovely Miss Lydia. Then Sunday dropped to the depths. I hope Pat will be able to connect to the internet soon and read these posts. What a terrible send-off for him.
 
Pat and Patty, I just returned from an overnighter on C-Run. Tears are running down my face. I can't believe the news about Oscar. How very difficult is must be for all of the family. From deep down in my heart, I want you to know how very sorry I am about the loss of your beloved Oscar. :dog Robbi
 
Pat here from Sullivan Bay on Broughton Island. THANK YOU so much for your kind words. This was supposed to be be a great adventure, and it has been so far, but my heart is so heavy, Oscar was just my bud. A movie is playing in my mind, Oscar running lickety split when I call him, dancing and spinning around when I get home from work, begging to get up on our bed, playing with his little kitty friend Columbia. I just can't believe he is gone, just like that.

So sorry to hear about Oscar. He was a special little guy. Pat I hope that the trip, at least in some ways, helps to take your mind off of losing him.

Patty, Pat and Austin. I'm so sorry for your loss. I know losing Oscar was the same as losing a family member. He certainly was part of our C-Brat family and we'll miss him. I've been remembering today how you went about choosing Oscar and how much I wanted to be right there with you when Austin picked him out. I was as excited as you were! Hope you don't mind me posting this picture. It's one of my favorites. Tiffany and Jamie want you to know how sorry they are about your loss.

Dear Pat, Dear Patty ... This sad news breaks our hearts. We are grateful to have known Oscar. His joyful presence in our lives shall remain forever. Be assured, he is in doggy heaven.

I just read this, Sorry to hear about the little guy. I have lost two dogs in my life and its a really hard thing to get over. Susan and I are sorry for your sorrow. Oscar will be miss by all.
 
I'm at a total loss for words. Oscar you will be missed by all.

Lyd here. I am just crying reading these posts, but they are very comforting to know that everyone loved Oscar so much. Thank you to everyone who made posts about Oscar. Dad, i am thinking about you. I love you and I know how much you are hurting right now. Thank goodness for all the good memories. I hope you can have a great time on your trip. I love you so much.

Oscar was a special member of your family and your larger C-Brat family and we will all miss his cheery presence on our cruises together and at the gatherings. Oh Dear! Poor Pat and Patty and Austin and poor Oscar. What a wonderful puppy he was. I've been off the website for a few days and just read this. What terrible news.

Our Andy (the silky terrier) has no fear of cars and would run into the street if we let him, no way. We lost his predecessor in 1996, a mutt named Murphy and I still miss him.

Sally and I grieve for you all and for Oscar.
