lifespan of sink foot pump

How stout is the sink foot pump, just wondering if anyone has had one blow out or fail? Is it an off the shelf RV part or do I have to call the factory for a replacement backup?
 
The pumps are off the shelf or at least mail order.

I have seen them at West Marine and also Defender.com

I have no idea about the durability----mine is still working.
 
Mine failed.....but I did that to myself.... I used bleach in the water tank and it caused the casting to corrode .... and nasty looking junk started coming out the faucet.....OOps... my screwup.... new pump time

The foot pump on Fishtales was still working when we let her go-- she was 6 years old.
I have a new foot pumb on the new boat that I am not using- that one goes to Joel to replace the one on SEA3PO--- I have an electric pump for my sink on C-Hawk.
 
I believe its a Whale pump . Probably one of the most reliable devices made for marine or RV use . My '96 I just sold pumped like it was new . When I was with West Marine , I remember selling every other pump alot for replacements except that one .

Thanks, sounds like a durable unit; we use it a lot and would be crushed if it failed.
