I have a 2006 25 ft CDory Cruiser. The motor well has a single drain thru the transom wall, located at least an inch above the floor of the motor well. It doesnt drain the well effectively and leaves standing water that get slimey.
Any suggestions?

The answer is to install one in the correct location.

Haven't noticed a problem with my splashwell drain except sometimes when the boat has a list due to loading. The drain is to one side.

The sump drain on the other hand was too high. Left an inch or so of water in the sump. I added a new drain lower down that properly drains the sump.

On Journey On a 2005 C-Dory, the motor well has 2 drains, one at each end of the motor well. They are installed ~1/2 above the bottom of the well, so that the well is never drained completely.

The factory installed those drains as low as they could. There's a brass ring swaged through the hole and I think that the swaging tool wouldn't allow the drains to be any lower.

So , one can live with it or one can correct the problem. Instead of lowering the holes I raised the floor of the motor well. I made a tapered redwood insert to fit in the motor well with the top just at the lower hole edge. Slathered 5200 on the underside and the edges and fastened it down with #10 sheet metal screws. Finally after the 5200 dried, painted all over with epoxy paint.

It's worked well for the last decade. No water in the well and it's still deep enough to do what motor wells do.

I have the same situation, half inch or so.
Keeping a big sponge handy makes quick work of what can'r drain

Pretty sure he would have figured that one out without posting :-)

Dollar store water toy. Suck out what you can. Sponge out the remainder.

I have one or two of those cheap sponges, but I just got tired of mopping it out after every trip or washdown. Now it empties itself through the magic of gravity.

I solved my single splashwell drain with a hole saw & a little fiberglass & resin :thup

One on either side of the splashwell, at the bottom so all the water drains out
