If you have a Honda Pilot it will do fine--but don't load the boat up too much. The towing capacity is 3500 lbs house trailer, 4500 lbs boat. I believe that capacity is based on a boat having less of a wind profile than a house trailer....the C Dory is somewhere between, because of the pilothouse. We towed our 22 with the Pilot with no problems.
Solar panels can be dissapointing if you are looking for the primary source of power. They work fine to keep batteries topped off when you are away from the boat. In the PNW there is not as much sun as in further south and the angle is lower on the horizon. To get the most effeciency of most panels you have to "track the sun". There is also the cost of controler, as well as panels. It is a great idea, but even with very large spaces it is difficult to get enough power for all needs, so you will want to do some research.
