Running a Wallas stove for heat without a heating lid or without the lid in the down (heating) position will eventually destroy the electronics by thermal transfer. Please don't do that, since a thermal drive fan will not solve that problem.
The newer (post 2006) stove/heaters have lids that change lid fan speed to match combustion level, so they get very quiet when running on low settings. The new fans get quieter every day and now have well over 20k hours life expectancy.
