SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

SleepyC went for a boat ride, Ferry actually, to Whidbey Island and then up the I-5 to Bellingham. The plan is for a new, black bottom, (bottom paint) and raising the waterline by about 5 inches, to near the next chine, and it should make longer lingering in the water more likable -- less cleaning time and fewer hitchhiker types on the bottom now.

Just fixed my troll control wire for my kicker motor - the cows decided to snack on it and ate about 12” :roll: I just finished having a talk with the dog about chewing a 40 foot extension cord into 4 pieces but now I know who did it!
Thankfully they didn’t eat my transducer wire or harness for my main!!!
Boat is now protected from the walking tanks

Trailer work here: Stripped off the surge actuator and mounted an electric over hydraulic and a breakaway battery/switch. Replaced the adjustable coupler with a simple fixed 2” coupler (just personal preference). Tomorrow I’ll wire it up and bleed the system just in time to haul out for spring cleaning! Also added new tires. Anybody know where to look to find the proper torque for the bolts in a bolt on coupler? I swung by North 40 this afternoon and picked up a shiny new set of grade 8 hardware but it occurred to me that over tightening could be a thing. There’s also a bit of a wiggle when using the old holes. Maybe washers for the gap? Or just crank them down and call it good?

I went with the Hydrastar Marine 1600 psi. I saw some previous posts about blown calipers (we have tandem disc brakes), and etrailers claimed it is compatible with my OEM controller and the brakes I have. Hoping they are correct... I have had good dealings with them in the past.

I can confirm the newer hydrastar marine EOH actuators are compatible with newer Ford f-150/expedition OEM trailer controllers over discs. Sensitivity adjustments and in cab manual override are working 100%. No more reverse lockout shenanigans or worrying about smoking pads on the downhill runs! Havent towed with weight on the trailer yet but preliminary tests are looking SWEET. Now what to do with the 2x4 and bungie cord that we used when we had to back uphill?? Some of the kit parts were funky imported plastic, but work. Actuator and breakaway system seem to be of quality. Take the “self tapping” screws with a grain of salt and overdrill holes or you will be buying new screws. Ask me how I know... anyone needing grade 8 hardware in the Northwest: North 40 sells it by the pound for tractors. Bolts, nuts, etc. i found a generic bolt manufacturer torque spec sheet on the interwebs that specified 80-90lbs torque for 1/2 inch bolts. Happy building! (If anyone needs a scrap surge coupler, i have one and will be at the cbgt in san juans)
 
Not exactly today, but I did a cool (really cool) motorcycle ride up to Bellingham last Monday to check on the bottom paint progress on SleepyC . I am having the raw water intake removed -- No more hole in the bottom, of my boat -- and raising the water line several inches, with a bit of a curve up at the bow to eliminate the ubiquitous "mustache" result from the slow cruise habit.

The boat was blocked up solid and the hole in the bottom was in the process of being capped and finished. The first coat of epoxy barrier was on, and the new line looks good.

And the ride home, It was even cooler.

Finally got the helm put back together last night and hopefully will take her out for a test drive today.

Starting tearing it apart last month looking for a hydraulic leak, and one thing led to another...

Fixed the "spinal scoliosis" in the nmea backbone with a couple of Anchor brand 4-way tee connectors from Amazon.
Tried to untangle and reroute all the loose wires and cables back as far as I could reach/see.
Relocated the autopilot CCU to under the center of the berth.
Rerouted the hose and (hopefully) repaired the leaking shadowdrive on the AP.
 
The back of my helm looks like the first picture, only worse. I was tempted to clean it up, but the "if it ain't broke, don't fix" rule kicked in.

Smart rule... unless you've got a lot of time to kill when you open that can of worms.
I still have to add the radar arch, radar, air conditioner and vhf antennae, so I figured now was the time to do it before adding to the mess.
 
I jacked the boat up over trailer crawled under and started sanding and then painting bottom It takes a good 3 days to do it But it usually lasts about 2 years or more in salt water moorage 8-9 months a year requiring a few touch ups Also changed out zincs Now to buff the gel coat then enjoy Jim
 
Well the plow guy left a 8’ berm of snow in front of my boat. Yesterday we got a tractor over and dug her out. Going to get her all prepped up for the winter king derby in a week:)

Both were due
