SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

OK, just returned from a day cruise with Dave and Alan Olson, Daydream's crew for the great 2006 Ketchikan run, so they can get some familiarity with the boat, time at the helm. Put the camperback up, launched at Eddie Vine at Shilshole, across the Sound, through Agate Passage, down the channel, up Liberty Bay into Poulsbo for lunch, back out through Rich Passage (dodging the Bremerton ferry, the right of way of tonnage!). On leaving Rich Passage entering the Sound, we encountered a pod of Orcas, shut down and enjoyed the show! Back across the Sound, dodging more ferries, container ships, and a tug and barge, headed her up for Shilshole, back into Eddie Vine. Raining like crazy the whole time, but flat water and no fog, Wallas blazing, it was comfy and warm in the cabin. Dave and Alan said this was pretty similar to a typical Southeast weather day...and they are now BIG FANS of the Wallas! Cool day! And if we believed NOAA, we never would have gone out!

Hadn't been out for about a month so both I and the SeaDNA were desperate for some water time. Launched at Everett at about 7:45AM and fished for black mouth on both the north and south sides of Gedney - Nada, nothing, zip. Decided to run up the Snohomish and fish for some chums and/or late coho and/or early steelies.

I'm not very familiar with the Sno so I'm sure I was not fishing in the best slots but I plunked some eggs and back trolled a k15 kwickfish for awhile. Did'nt get a bit but did cook up a nice breakfast and did get to do a little exploring on a piece of water I haven't been on before. I have yet to discover how far up the Sno I can safely take the CD 22 but it was certainly a lot farther than I got today.

Also, yesterday I finally got the rope lighting installed below the gunnels in the cockpit It's pretty sweet - not too bright and the indirect light seems like it will be great for early AM fishing and for ambiance on those summers evenings. I got a 16' chunk and ran it from the front of one gunnel, across and above the fuel tanks and up the other side. 15' would have been a little more optimal length, but the extra is hidden behind the tank covers and helps light up the tanks for level checks at night.

I've always figured the farthest to go "safely" is the town of Snohomish, with our vessels.

I spent the day rubbing and scrubbing and removing things from the boat. We are going to be putting the Lynn Marie up for sale and today I worked at removing the names, ect. Now my next big project will be trying to figure out how to get an ad posted and then hopefully finding her a good home with a loving family that will have the time to enjoy cruising about. Since most of our time on the water over the last year has been fishing I'll be looking for something with less living space. Some of my best times over the years has been working right here on the boat in our own yard installing stuff and modifying or tweeking the little things to make this a unique cruiser. Today wasn't one of those great days.

Geez, Judy and Tim - this is really sad to hear...all the love you put into the Lynn Marie. Hope you will still stay in touch...

Tim,

That's sad to hear but I'm sure someone will be getting a great boat. Before you place an ad, you might want to PM Byrdman. I don't think Patrick has had a 22' yet

We took my dad out for a little cruise from Edmonds to Kingston for lunch to celebrate his birthday. It was a little foggy but plenty of visibility and we enjoyed just putting around looking at all the fancy houses along the water. Not many other people out there, just fishing boats and ferrys. But it was great to be out on the water. Deb

Tim, I agree with Pat. That's sad news that you're selling Lynn Marie. Surprising, too. I hope we still get to see you here and there.
By the way, I know a super little fishing boat with less living space...

Thanksgiving day and while I have so many things to be thankful for it was still hard to sit down and put a post in the C-Dorys For Sale section. Spending the time to sit and type in all the information brings back lots of memories of researching, purchasing, and installing all the features the boat now has. The final reward of any of our boat projects of course is when we get to put them back in the water and find that they do exactly what we hoped they would. Owning a boat can have lots of pleasures but owning a C-Dory even includes a new family of friends. It's been a very rewarding experience. To bad we don't always have all the time and money we need so hard choices wouldn't have to be made.

Even though the boat is now listed I/we will still be coming to the SBS so hope to see a lot of you there.

Tim

We took the SeaDNA out for spin this Turkey day AM. I have it moored at Edmonds for the next 2 months while we get a new retaining wall installed and a new parking pad for the boat along side the house. We ran over to the bay between Point Monroe and Point Jefferson. Dropped 2 crab pots near Indianola and one near Point Monroe. Saw an blue angler out today on the N. end of the bay. Think it was a 19', didn't catch the name. Trolled for a bit and picked up one shaker blackmouth. The pot near Point Monroe came up empty but the other two pots came up with 2 keep red-rock crab each. Overall, not the best fishing and crabbing but still a nice way to spend some turkey day time.

Hi Folks,

Wednesday, winterized engines and covered boat. Today and this weekend, Level trailer, take batteries off, take everything else off. make list, and start attacking list. (I think some of the manufacturers of marine hardware have never been on a boat in their life time. I had purchased a replacement bow running light that was attached just forward of the bow hatch of my 1983 22' C-Dory. During the Erie Canal Cruise, the light bulb went out. It took four screws to change the bulb, two screwed in to the deck, and two attaching the bottom to the top of the fixture. I have now filled the screw and wire holes with epoxy, and purchased two lights to replace the bow light. They will be placed on the port and starboard sides of the cabin, just below the forward end if the side windows. each light has four screws, two attaching the base to the boat, and two attaching the lens base to the other base. Both bulbs can be replaced from the windows. MUCH BETTER.)

:sad We're still "inside with the chickenpox" cuz the CatyMae is still at the factory...I woke up in the middle of the night missin' 'er and wondering if she misses her home.

Lynn Marie/Tim:

Man, I agree with Catman on this one... if you are going to down size a bit and need a smaller craft with less cruising gear.... you may want to poke around a bit at the boat shows or on this site for a 16' C-Dory owner wanting to move up to a 22?? Just a thought. I can tell you really do not like what you are going thru. Not sure what it is, PM me if you like. Got you in my prayers.

Well... I am on house arrest my by "Honey-Do-Natze-Wife".....God Bless her. I have had to promise to stay home for 5 days in a row. :cry

And I can just hear C-Byrd calling my name for leaving her out on the clean up racks at the marina by herself....and for Thanksgiving at that. I hope this does not come back to haunt me...

So, while it is still before sunrise....and she is back there snoaring like a bear, I am in here playing with my C-Dory friends looking at what they have done on their boats...and what I want to do on the C-Byrd.

But, making progress getting the painting and stuff she wanted done during her non-snoaring daylight hours... :smile

I just miss my BOAT!! :smiled

Happy day!!! I visited my new boat Friday!! It arrived in to Bulldog Boats in Ft. Myers after a 6 day trip from the factory. Sure looks good. First time I had actually sat in a finished C-Dory. Nothing like buying a boat sight un-seen on the internet. Hope to take delivery Monday afternoon after the dealer installs a few things and does a shake down cruise. Then the fun begins when I start installing the A/C and get it ready for its ride down to Little Cayman on the big ship.

I did nothin to my C-Dory today... :crook

Mike,

That is a wonderful picture that looks to have been taken after a great day on the water. I'm not sure though that the lad is a keeper, the way that the crab is measuring him up makes him look a bit small between the pinchers. Hope he isn't going to have to wear him to school that way for show and tell. Good to see the younguns having a good time playing with the catch.

Thanksgiving week we prepared the boat for bottom paint. We played the game...Block the Boat Up...dewax the hull, prime, paint, paint, paint....watch the paint dry....de-block the boat back on the trailer and hope we don't drop her on her butt. We launched the boat on Sunday morning for a short cruise.

This was a four or five day job that cost around $300.00 in materials. Labor consisted of just Judy and I except when we needed a third set of hands and one more back...then we just run down the nearest neighbor.

All said and done we saved $900 over the yard quote. That should leave enough for a good Christmas shopping spree, don't you think.
