OK, just returned from a day cruise with Dave and Alan Olson, Daydream's crew for the great 2006 Ketchikan run, so they can get some familiarity with the boat, time at the helm. Put the camperback up, launched at Eddie Vine at Shilshole, across the Sound, through Agate Passage, down the channel, up Liberty Bay into Poulsbo for lunch, back out through Rich Passage (dodging the Bremerton ferry, the right of way of tonnage!). On leaving Rich Passage entering the Sound, we encountered a pod of Orcas, shut down and enjoyed the show! Back across the Sound, dodging more ferries, container ships, and a tug and barge, headed her up for Shilshole, back into Eddie Vine. Raining like crazy the whole time, but flat water and no fog, Wallas blazing, it was comfy and warm in the cabin. Dave and Alan said this was pretty similar to a typical Southeast weather day...and they are now BIG FANS of the Wallas! Cool day! And if we believed NOAA, we never would have gone out!
