SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

We have had a great weekend out at Matia...

Will go in to work late so I can leave early! Just a fabulous weekend!!!!

Sounds like a government job to me! 8) We know you like your work, Pat... but, "going in early so you can leave late"??? Maybe it's just this thread, but I don't recall seeing anyone write about being happy to cut their boat time short.

Tried to figure out why the Kicker (That ran so well 3 mos ago) will not start. :crook I've reached all I can from the cockpit. I'll have to pull the boat out on the high tonight (Motor is bolted on) :sad No spark on either plug. Could be the control module, but I'll jumper the kill sw. plug and see if that might be the problem. :smiled Jack

Determined it's a bad Main Ignition Module on the Kicker ($100.). :smilep What else? :sad I put one on order and it will be here Monday. Always something.... :cry

*Note to self: Always buy Gorilla Glue in small containers ....It has a lousy shelf life once it's been opened. :smiled Jack

Yesterday we had another beautiful cruise from Everett to Edmonds. Had a great lunch at Anthony's. Their Fisherman's platter, however, is so good that I had thoughts of abandoning my cheap hamburger quest. But, as one thing tends to lead to another, I'd probably start thinking about a 22, then maybe a 25. Maybe someone can suggest a cheap burger within walking distance of Edmonds Marina so I can continue to "live within my means". We used the kicker most of the way back. She's not as easy to start as the 'big' 40, but I do love her just as much.

Today on my C-Dory.................I replaced the anchor line for the 3rd time in 25 yrs. This time I treated myself and the CD to it's 1st double braid line. I have used 3 strand on the previous two with obvious good success. I just wanted to upgrade a little. Unfortunately I did not know how to put an eye splice/thimble on a double braid. I tried several methods researched from the net w/o success. 4 or 5 failures cut off on the floor. So I went to the local commercial fisherman's store and he zeroxed a method out of his own old slicing book. It worked perfectly and I now have an eye splice on each end of my new 600' line. I also whipped 100' markers at 1,2,3 & 400' marks.
Tomorrow the halibut will be in great danger. The wind died, the sun is shining, my hooks are sharp and the tanks are full.
Life is good on my old C-dory.

Yesterday we had plans to meet up with Rick and Carol (Hunky Dory - username Rick From Maine) and take them for a boat ride on the Puget Sound. We met at the Everett marina (where I am sub leasing Larry's slip for the summer) and cruised over to Port Ludlow for lunch. The weather was cooperative - low 80's, a bit cloudy with the occasional sun break, nice flat water. We could do 20+kts most of the time but averaged around 16.

We stopped a few places along the way to look at wildlife or scenery. Took a few pictures of the light house at Pt. No Point and may pictures of the seals on Colvos rocks at the entrance to Port Ludlow. Tied up for a little over an hour at Port Ludlow while we went up to the restaurant. Port Ludlow is always nice about letting you tie up when you stop in for lunch. Rick and Carol are a nice couple (like most C-Brats!) and a good time was had by all. The boat is now safely ensconced in covered moorage and (with a little cleaning and reorganizing) ready to be used much more frequently this summer.

Just happened to have a spray can of 1988 Silver :smile So, both motor hoods received a new paint job. :smileo UV had gotten to the tops and the paint was starting to peal :crook They look a lot better now. :thup ...

Finally got around to working on the Cat, the knee is feeling better with no treatment except staying off it as much as possible.

Changed lower unit lube oil on port engine this morning and drained engine oil. Boy, those 115's hold a lot of oil! You have to pull the lower stbd cover off (7 screws) to get at the oil filter. I know why service places charge so much.

Will refill the port engine oil today and do stbd servicing tomorrow. It gets up to 95+ here during the day so the only time I can get out and do this is about 7AM!

Company coming for the 4th, gotta get this pup back in the water!

Finished up service on both engines this morning. Still have to fill both with 4.8qts of oil but the lower units are done and the filters are changed and the crankcase drained. A messy job but I hope I saved some bucks.

The Suzi service manual is very helpful, I would recommend it to all. Still gotta get the new transducer on the port sponson and a couple of other things before we go back in the water.

I had hoped for cooler wx today but guess it's not to be. It's 85 out there now and headed for 95 again. Too hot for this old geezer. Brief shower last night, about 5 minutes. Hoping for more t'storms tonight and tomorrow.

Plenty to do in the new house though..

Charlie

Good catch Marty. Actually, it's Saturday at last so I can take a shower myself now....

Looks like rain now, hope we get it.

Finished the oil changes on the Suzis, engines and lower units both. Tomorrow, I'll put the batteries in their new boxes, put the transducer for the new Raymarine Depth sounder on the port sponson and run that wire.

Gotta figure out what's up with the stbd bilge pump, it don't pump and I haven't found a blown fuse or ckt breaker yet. It's another one of those darn things deep in the bilge that I can barely lay a hand on, much less get it out.

Stay cool all.... :disgust

Time for :cocktail :cocktail

A boating day today in the PNW. While heading out of Everett had CDancer race past us on his way to the one small spot around here open to fishing. Called him on 68 but no answer. Then while out floating around heard Lizzie also trying to raise CDancer - Marty on Lizzie came over and said hi.

Have to admit, Marty and Dotty are my favorite C-Brats - Marty took Shan for her first ride on a C-Dory and really introduced us to the C-Brat world. We still owe them a lunch and a trip on the boat. Then saw C-Dancer again - in the boat parade on the fishing grounds (its an area around 200 yards by 1/2 mile thats open for fishing on Friday/Sat/Sun) - gave a wave.

On the way back in we passed SeaCoaster (Base Camp Anne) heading out.
Cheers,
Tom

In addition to C Dancer and Lizzie I saw a blue C-Dory in the yard at Bayside Marine waiting for service apparently. I believe the state tag was Ohio?...also saw another blue C-Dory docked near the restaurant with her name in red letters...Jenny ? And I waved at a couple (owner or possibly potential buyers of the 19 ft. Dory for sale at Bayside. What a nice hot weekend with our C-Dory's very well represented all over Everett!

I also tried to figure out the GPS on my boat and learn why the map does not change size, and how to make other adjustments. Still fussing with it....

Sorry I missed you trying to get me on the VHF Marty & Tom, I thought I was montoring channel 68 as well as channel 16 but maybe not.

In any case, it was a beautiful day although a little lumpy. Much cooler on the water compared to the temps on land but hey, I'm not complaining. 90 degrees in June is fine with me. :smiled

We met Patty's nephew's family (nephew Erick, his wife Sara, 2 year old son E.J. and Sara's sister Laura) at HIlton Harbor Saturday morning for a day cruise to Matia Cove. Five adults, a 2 year old, and one scruffy dog on board! Got the hook set, then hot dogs and potato salad. After lunch I ferried everyone to shore, we walked to Rolfe Cove and back, then time to get them back to B'ham. Erick took the helm on the way back, who knows, maybe a future C-Brat at some point.

David met us at Hilton Harbor on Alyssa Jean, and then we motored over to Chuckanut Bay together, lots of boats anchored there, mostly sail boats. Slept soundly that night! We anchored up and David rafted, we had a wonderful flank steak dinner on board, and then David headed back to Guemes. We had a nice leisurely Sunday breakfast on board, back to Hilton Harbor - gas at the fuel dock was $4.85, 75 gallons, ouch! We got Daydream cleaned up, we really have the drill down at HIlton Harbor now, then we came back to Birch Bay, where we are right now, will head back down to the "real world" a bit later this morning. Think once again I will go in to work late so I can leave early! A glorious weekend, the weather we are having is incredible, just hope it holds for the 4th of July weekend!

What a great weekend, Pat and Patty -- sure glad all went so well, from start to finish. We're en route (in Utah) and hope to see you guys soon. Anyone going out to Lopez to see the fireworks?
