SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

Oh I'm in either way! Sounds like fun. Kirkland does actually have pretty cruddy docks, so I would think it best to avoid those. I would be up for any location, I haven't actually been to Coulon Park, so that sounds fun to me but Ivars or anywhere will work, it's more the company than the location. :thup

We are so there...per PM to Marty, we are going to Korea 4-5 through 4-11, but can rearrange just about everything else...

How about a 16 footer get together on Lake Washington sometime soon? We could all meet at Coulon Park or Ivars and compare notes in person.

After all....

Of course David! Please, anyone, if you have 16 footer, if you had a 16 footer, if you want a 16 footer, please show up. We are not making a big deal full blown CBGT. Just an informal informative good time for a few hours on a weekend day. We'll settle on a date tomorrow or the next day. Thanks.
Sorry about hijacking the thread.

I stopped at King marine Canvas today to order a full camper back for Dreamer. Inside their shop was a C-Dory 16! Reportedly a frequent customer of Dave's. :?: :?:

How are you handling the screen/eisenglas decision? And what are they charging for a Tom Cat camper back?

Installed a 4 LED light bar on radar arch. Purpose is to light aft deck during dusk battle with king salmon. Pictures coming soon.

That is a pretty nice setup! Can you provide details on the light and clamp?

Roger, Dreamer

I am also interested in the specifics of the camper back for the TomCat 255. What bimini will you use, and is it part of the camper back package?

Warren,

My friend Harris knows about electrical, so he helped me out. We went to Vetco and bought a bunch of wire, connectors, toggle switch and inline fuse. We have the toggle switch located at the helm. Note: the LED has no integrated on/off switch. Wiring is run into radar arch, and fished up to the helm.

Clamp:
PYI RM-CL-114, SKU 366774 1 1/4IN SS RAIl CLAMP
Fisheries had to order this from a place called PYI - took about a week. Clamp has two threaded holes. One the LED used, the other I have a holding bolt in it. Luckily threads matched up perfectly.

I will have the setup at Anacortes derby in a couple weeks (weather permitting)

Been just trying to keep the snow away from the boat in hopes breakup is just around the corner. Believe it or not, this could all be gone by April 1st. It’s been hanging in the single digits at night but a warming trend is on its way, I am so ready for spring. Got Boat on the brain bad!

^^^ And I complain about a little cold & rain.

I took measurments and made some patterns yesterday for the long-awaited curtains for 'Au Kai. Met with the talented mystery sewer/seamstress today and it looks like a "go". 8) More to follow....

I spent the day yesterday re-finishing the air intake cover on my Honda 75 since it has been blowing at 25 mph for the last 2 days. Good workshop project. First I removed the cover from the cowling and then I was able to remove about 99% of the paint that was still left on the cover with a simple razor scraper. It just peeled up. After I had stripped the paint, I sanded with 400 wet/dry and then cleaned up with acetone. I bought a can of plastics primer from Home Depot and that only required 1 thin coat. Next followed up with Honda metallic paint. I lost count, but I think it took about 10 coats...very thin...to get the metallic to look good, but you must only use thin coats or the paint will bubble. About 5 minutes between each coat and no sanding. After the last metallic coat had dryed for about 30 minutes, I followed up with clearcoat finish. Again, it was about 10 coats with 5 minutes between until it was looking like glass and matched the cowling finish pretty well. I have to wait at least 48 hours before exposing the finished cover to the elements, so later in the week, I will fasten the cover back onto the cowling and put it back on the engine. All in all, a good and easy Sunday afternoon project.

Yesterday was "put Daydream back together" day.

Everything was torn up in the area under the aft dinette seat from replacing the battery charger and removing the hot water heater. Every other surface was covered with stuff from that endeavor. I was just going to replace the FloJet, put the cabinetry back together, wipe down, sweep up and be done. Couple of hours, tops.

Out to the boat after breakfast, about 8:30 a.m. First thing I did was to replace the FloJet pump while I had easy access to it. It was pretty easy, four screws out and snip two wires, and the old one was out, four screws in and connect two wires and the old one was in. But then I had to deal with the hose from the hot water tank. Some plastic fittings and hose clamps and now both hoses carry cold water. Have to test the pump to make sure there are no leaks while I still have easy access before putting everything back together.

OK, on to test the pump! Oh oh! The house battery is dead. And I had just put in the brand new 20 amp Guest a month or two ago...Out comes the digital voltmeter. Got 13.2 volts across each charging circuit at the charger, no problem with the charger. Back to the battery, 13.2 volts between the fuse holder and the negative terminal. What's this? The fuse is blown! Should always check the fuse first! Seems I had forgotten to upsize the 10 amp fuse when I changed from the 5/5 to the 10/10. Popped a new fuse in, we are charging, baby! Decided to check the starting battery too. It was down around 12.1, but that fuse wasn't blown. Then I looked closely at the fuse holder. It was corroded inside and somehow all bent out of shape and not making good contact with the fuse prongs. So replaced the fuse holder, popped in a new fuse for good measure. Both fuse holders got a good shot of BoeShield inside. All is good with the charging circuits! My little meter that plugs into the 12 volt socket at the helm is reading 13.1 - 13.2 volts. Whew!

The FloJet is now making the pumping noises but no water comes out the galley faucet. Hmmm. So we go back to the pump and start tracing (I should have just started with the shower in the head, didn't think of that soon enough). Had water at the tee where I joined the two lines. Had water at the shower in the head.

Nothing left to test but the supply line at the faucet. Out comes everything under the galley. Had a devil of a time getting the supply line off the faucet, but I did, and my knuckles will heal in no time! Had water at the supply line to the faucet! Dang faucet aerator was clogged! Patty cleaned that, and we have water at the sink again. Happy day!

Time to break for lunch though...

Back at it. From here, it did all go back together very easily. I really appreciate the Decraguard interior held together with L brackets. I don't know how I would have coped with all this with a molded interior.

Then I started at the hanging locker and worked my way forward, across the front, and back to the head. Lots of Simple Green and paper towels! I found the red dust of Powell still embedded in the weirdest places. Everything got looked at before it went back, and boat is a bit lighter today for sure!

Done at 6:00 p.m., just in time for the cocktail hour. There is one drawer I still have to tackle and the shelves up in the vee-berth, but they can wait for another day!

Spring is coming to Northern Virginia. In the 60s many days now, rain all weekend though... :x

I will tackle the fuel system on the TC first this year. Ordered two new Racor type filter elements to replace the ones in the sponsons and two new HP and LP fuel filters for the Suzi 115's all from Browns Point Marine Service. They shipped the same day and I had all of them in 4 days! Great vendor.

Now if it'll only quit raining.

After letting the Susan E sit for a record six months, hope I never break that, I fired her up in the drive way. Both engines cranked right up, main and kicker. The wallas lite of the third try and I had to grease and work the steering a little but its all freed up and ready to go. Last week I pulled the downrigger apart and replaced a bad relay in one then sprayed the insides with FS-3 to keep the water out. I took pics of the inside and may post about that later.

All I have left is to install my new vhf that I won at the CCA banquet, which was donated by Jeff from Ranger tugs. but to do so I have to cut wood for a new mounting face. I am not allowed to cut wood unsupervised but have to get it done any way.
