SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

you where very fortunate to have access to the school shops. Around here, I have to bring my own toilet paper, heaven forbid I should use any of the states resources. I hear you on the scraps of material, I have a few boxes of just scraps, I just know if I throw that little piece of whatnot away I'll need it...maybe I can get some more obsidian on our trip south and increase my woodworkng tool collection :)

Not so in a "small" town. Kinda limits one's sources of fun material.
Joe.

Heck Joe, in this small redneck town, if ya needs "fun material", all ya's gotta do is look across the fence lines at your neighbor's place....there's all kinds of useful stuff (ie: broken down cars, lawnmowers, boats, bicycles, washers, dryers, refers).....you know... that stuff they thinks they're gonna use some day!
Come on over some day and you can jump my barbed wire fence and go searchin' for stuff for a future project! (If you're missin' any teeth and have a wad of tobacco in your cheeks, they'll probably give you some of it, if you talk reeeel nice!) :disgust

(and I'm not kidding!)

Dave-

We gots a lot o' them stylish places down here out in the rural areas, too!

But when you drive down their "Private Road" named after their wife or even such a creative name as "Profaniaty Lane' or "Goose Chase Road", they look at you as though you're an Alcohol, Firearms, and Tobacco Agent looking for their still and / or Crank (methamphetamine} Cookhouse.

No "Welcome" signs from these types who essentially want to be left alone to enjoy their watch dogs, junkpiles, and "precious privacy".

I'll opt for the city, sidewalks, sewer, water, natural gas, and electriical systems, along with police and fire protection to at least somewhat keep civil order.

Our local newspaper is constanly reporting the daily batch of Sheriff's Reports on the mostly rural outlaw's family violence, drug and alcohol problems, marajuana cultivation and drug manufacture, shootings, etc.

The rural, pastoral life can be quite peaceful as I'm sure it is up where you live, but in some cases, it's more a place where those hide out who don't want to be constrained by civil order, the rule of law, and individual accountability.

(Sorry about the rant, but some of these folks are in another world, one I hope I never experience personally.)

Joe, you just described the neighbors on one side of me perfectly. Just haven't been able to prove the "meth lab" part. Since they have what appears to be a chop shop, and since chop shops and meth labs often accompany each other, they have certainly been under suspicion. The "patriarch" of the place was in the "big house" for a while! (As to "dogs"...a few years back their pit bulls killed a neighbor's dog).

Guess, I shouldn't have gotten on the subject...you know.... "love thy neighbor".

Dave-

There are mostly good folks around, with a few "Outlaws" here and there to let us ordinary folks see what can happen if you let the "Dark Side" be your guide!

Keep up your guard and protect yourself and your family.

Joe.

dave you would be amazed how quickly those chop shops catch fire and go up in smoke. With out there moneymaking shop and lab they will shortly be down the road. That will allow you to buy up the place and sub it in to large lots for family housing and better neigbors. Nothing like a little profit and improvement in one shot.

SO, I'll add that I'm shoppin for a generator for the boat when it gets here

I need a little help. I'm not near my boat and want to purchase a hatch to put in the front facing seat like this:

Cabin_Interior_001.jpg

Does anyone know the dimension of this area for a Front Facing seat, as opposed the older stationery seats?
Your help would be much appreciated. Peter

Hi Peter, I have this same hatch available. It was installed in my 22 and then I did the "barbers chair" conversion. It is in my shop.
The dimensions are 18" wide and 20" high. These are the dimensions of the trim.

WM has them. Will sell you this one for 50%.

Sorry Folks, for the above "tirade", I just had to push my button! :disgust (You know, like sharing with my "C-Dory family").

At any rate...........what did you do on your C-Dory today? The only thing I did was put my fenders back in the boat since I washed them up a bit after last weekends cruise. :smiled

David, thanks for the offer but actually, I also have a hatch with those dimensions. I didn't take into account that the "barber chair" is shorter in height in order to allow the whole chair to slide over. Therefore, I have the wrong size and was just trying to find out what the right size was for the shorter barber chair. See ya next month in Poulsbo!

Today, Penny and I put the only human footprints on the Middle Cape of Cape Sable. We walked ashore. This area is part of the Everglades National Park.

This is the area to cruise in the winter.

Check it out!

Are you rastlin' alligators now?.....Inquiring mind wants to know....(knowing you, I'm guessin' the alligator lost).

No it was sorta a surprise encounter.... I didn't know alligators went to sea !!
I ...was in 3 1/2' of water...I had been swimming...and I saw some junk in the water...but didn't think a thing about it.... I got out, and was sitting on the ice chest eating my breakfast when the log next to the junk moved up-wind.... and out onto the beach...it was about 8' long... What a thrill !!
I could have been Peg-leg Joe... (kinda cool) but after that I quit swimming..
Had to settle for da showers at the marina...

Hi Joel,

The picture was taken on one of numerous great beaches we were able to visit on our recent SW Florida cruise.

I thought only the crocs went into salt water... Saw that you are signed up for Lake Powell. Penny and I will probably join the roster soon - few more things to get ironed out.

Look forward to seeing you and hearing more about your travels.

Say hi to Susan for us.

I am from California....so all those things look alike to me... crocks / aligators all bad do-doo.
Same with snakes....we don't have a great variety here, so they all look bad.... when I went up into the back waters in Biloxi...and the swampy areas...I just knew they were filled with stuff that nightmares are made of, stuff falling from trees etc....

Joel
