SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

Russ- I don't wear an AFDB, I tried one once but found it actually acts as an antenna...I kept having this urge to vote Republicratic and buy a Bayliner.
My many "on task", informative, factual no-nonsense postings are probably more likely attributed to the several head injuries I suffered as a youth :)

Finally, We've picked a name for our boat. C-Sprite.
It was easier finding a boat then choosing the name!
I didn't actually do anything on the boat today as it is still being repaired after being rearended on the freeway.
Man, I've got the itch, I wanna go play!

Ken, I'm so glad you're on this site. Like a good sports team, you always need someone in the locker room to keep things light and loose. Keep it up! :thup

Peter

C-Dancer, thanks, just trying to keep the humor per capita at a decent level. The web site header says "a fun and informative place" fun is why we all got into boating and it's why I keep paying the steep membership dues here :)

Sorry Milehog, I just had to do it

I got together with my local "Canvas Guru's" here in Fairbanks and they designed a slick shelter for my 22' C-Dory. A snow/rain fly that works like a champ, yet gives ready access to the boat if I want to jump in and make motor noises or do a little work on it. This cover just went through some pretty stiff winds and came through with flying colors. It sets up easily and quickly and the cover doesn't contact the gel coat at any point. I have unfettered access to the cockpit/cabin. Great protection from snow, rain and sun. Very light and easily stowable. Man, this is cool!

I put some pics in 3rd Byte's photo album if you want to check it out.
I tried to add a couple pics of the fly with this post but I obviously don't have Joe's knack for nerdiness with Mac's, nor Bill's with PC's!

Mark-

Which size would you like?

Nice idea by the way!

Thanks Joe, for moving the pics on. Damn, it must nice to be talented, not to mention have all that time on your hands.

I have the feeling tha Pat's just an intermediary stop in your quest for the top of the list. Tyboo, I understand, is starting to look over his shoulder as well.

Eric, thanks for you're kind words on the "fly".

That's right, I haven't done a thing on or with my C-Dory in 4 whole days. :cry

Really can't complain, though... I've been out sailing with some buddies for the last 4 days while the Blonde was visiting her Mother (got me out of MIL duty). Had one heck of a storm (thunder, lightning, big wind, and 3 inches of rain in about an hour)... not sure if it got as far south as our canal where Wild Blue is resting. On my way home right now... anxious to hug my wife, rub the cat, and caress my boat (exact order to be determined). First chance I've had to peruse this forum... 226 new messages! :thup

Looking foward to a few days away on Wild Blue.

Best wishes,
Jim B.

PS - I neglected to mention that the big rain was on my watch - I couldn't have been wetter if I jumped IN the water. Did I mention how much I love that inside helm station in Wild Blue? :wink

Well, for now at least, it's just Pat!

I probably won't last until the Boat Show no matter how much time I have or devote to the task....expecting to get BLACKBALLED OUT OF THE UNIVERSE FOR EXCESSIVE DIGITAL JABBERWOCKY real soon.

Have to say I appreciate the quiet tolerance exhibited so far!

As a matter of fact, I'm rejoicing with the fact that Pat's locked up on a cruise ship with a $0.75/minute Internet rate, and probably is therefore in a Read Only Mode, and has to read my drivel as I zero in on him!

Sweet is the anticipation of victory, indeed!

Joe.

It's been a rainy couple of days here in south Texas. That's kept most of the boats in, but not if you have a C-Dory. We took a tour around the island, watched the dolphins play, checked out a pipeline ship in our turning basin... and no one got wet! 8)

During a break in the rain, I did size up the name design that has been given the "Blonde Seal of Approval"...

Yeah, that's just paper on there. I've been going through the websites for boat graphics, but couldn't find anyone who offered more than one font and some reversal of colors. I'll take this layout to a sign shop to have them make up what we want.

We have about 10,000 extra folks in town for the "Roar by the Shore", motorcycle rally. The parade early this evening was interesting: somewhere around 1,000 participants... the local police blocked off the side streets and turned 'em loose... at about twice the speed limit. The whole thing took less than 10 minutes to pass. This image doesn't have anything to do with C-Dorys, but thought you'd like to see who was leading the "parade" (race?)...

While Steve's off elk hunting, I found something to amuse myself again...baking for my grandson's football game this mornng!

It's called Kitty Litter Cake -- white and chocolate cake mixes, vanilla pudding, white sandwich cookies and, of course, tootsie rolls. It was a hit!

Installed new tail / turn / stop lights on the trailer for Crabby Lou today. Tomorrow, will do some more removal of oxidation and waxing (down to the bottom of the hull now), and if the fog gives us a break, will splash her for a little run around Blaine, maybe over to Birch Bay, just to exercise her a little.

I stripped all of the cabinetry, gas tanks, water tank, cooler and everything down to the bare hull. Then I scrubbed and power washed everything clean. Then I sanded the floor and up to the first rib and applied the first coat of grey Hurculiner.

I'll put the second coat on tomorrow, and the innards back in next weekend. It will give me a chance to go through the wiring and get rid of old and corroded stuff.

The old boat looks pretty sparse inside without all that stuff in it. I'll bet she'll really fly now.

Well, guess I know what I am NOT going to do on Crabby Lou today - splash her... The weather guessers are usually wrong, and I would not let this deter me from taking Daydream out...but I sure do not want to be out, for the first time, in a CD16 with a 15 year old two cycle engine in 2'-4' waves and have her quit on me...if that is going to happen, I want to find out on a calm sunny day!

Well, Pat, the weather down here is just fine (high 70's/ low 80's), and I'm taking another Durango Load of ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY STUFF up to the Sea Ray.

Nice having storage room all over the place in the boat, plus two rented lockers on the dock and an Army foot locker that serves double-duty as a dock-to-boat step!

Joe.

Byrdman was in town after Auburn beat Florida :thup .
We got C-Pearl out of Lake Martin. Cathy and I are
going to pack for the c-brat gathering in Apalachicola.
Byrdman will be coming back through and we will have
a 3 boat caravan Wednesday. Can't wait!
Buc's finally won one today.
