The Challenge of Buying A Used C-Dory

Since the sale, he has been very helpful with the purchase arrangements, helping to put the boat in storage and other technical aspects. We decided that we would store the boat in Whitehorse for the winter and bring it home in the spring. We could have rushed up north before winter and brought it home. But, we decided to make a vacation of it, take our time driving up the Alaska Highway and take some time to explore the lakes in the region. The seller has been very helpful by sending us charts, maps and air photos of Lake Atlin with detail boating hazards, anchorages and hikes. We plan to do our maiden voyage on Lake Atlin and explore some of other northern lakes like Teslin on our journey.
To me there is only one draw back with your plans of cruising the headwater lakes of the Yukon River & that is the difficulty of finding any others that compare thereafter. Atlin lake is the gem of the three, with Tagish Lake a close 2nd & Teslin a distant third. Over a several year period starting in 2001, we throughly explored all three lakes in both a 12.5 foot RIB & CD22 with the most time spent on Atlin Lake.

Let's just call this trip a reconnaissance.

I purchased the new to me (Sensei) a couple of months ago. I paid the asking price and drove 12.5 hours to get her. I had been looking for this particular boat for 3 years and when it showed its ugly head on this site I pulled the trigger on her before I lost out again, I was looking for a specific boat which was a 90's Angler. not many of those out there.
You just have to know what you want and know what you can afford and go for it. distance should not be to much of an issue.
we had a surveyor check it out for us. and the seller split the cost with me.
When we traded the 25 for the 22cruiser we had a C-Brat that lived in the area ,(Southern California) that we knew go and check it out for us. Where there's a will, there's a way to make it happen.

I know that if there was a need for transporting a boat from West coast Eastward in the right time frame, I would be willing to work out some deal to move one.
I enjoy a good road trip once in a while.
