The Other Guy's

Tomorrow the Ranger Tugs are having a gathering at Comox. I wandered down to the dock this evening to talk to the early arrivals. I asked one chap how many boats are coming? He replied, well there are 68 registered. Wow!

For the Brats who were here last year, it was one year ago, last weekend in July when we held our gathering. Boy, time flies.

I think part of it has to do with the factory participation. These TugNuts are traveling to Desolation Sound as a group. Ranger Tug factory folks are there to support the lifestyle. Plenty of returnees who have done the trip before, and new folks who enjoy the security of traveling there with a group. I think Jeff, Andrew, and Kenny (factory folks) are along, plus Captain Mac (and Linda), who does the owner orientation for new owners. Great peace of mind for those traveling with the group.

Besides the fact that it is fun for all those participating, it is very smart marketing for the Ranger Tug factory... "Buy a tug, enjoy the lifestyle!"

No doubt, trips like this are a very effective sales tool and great for building comradery amongst Ranger owners. Fun. Win/Win.

We went to Desolation Sound and Princess Louisa Inlet the first year we owned Wild Blue - what great boating destinations! Before that trip, we traveled in the Gulf Islands with a group of C-Dory owners for a week before we went north on our own.

I would imagine those Ranger Tug (and Cutwater) folks are having a ball on this trip.

Best wishes,
Jim

Yes, there is a steady stream of Cutwaters going through the harbour in Nanaimo. Must have all come through Dodd's Narrows this morning or maybe tied up here last night. Good weather for them! The wind has finally died down.

pretty cool, I do like those Rangers. Saw two at Pt Defiance in my last two outtings. Both green hulls, one was a 27ft being launched and the other may have been the same, but it looked bigger on the water.

I didn't count them all but there was certainly over 50 of them at the dock, they looked very impressive. They were all sporting the Canadian flag on their antenna. Weather here for them was superb. This morning they took off for Gorge Harbor on Cortez Island.
