Hey Everyone,
Currently repowering my 22 cruiser with a 140 tohatsu to replace the dual Honda 50s that were on it. For a backup I was thinking the 6hp tohatsu SailPro. Anyone have any experience with that motor on their 22? Thanks.

I have used the 5hp Mercury Sail Power for the kicker on my 22 cruiser for about 5 years and I feel it works great. I have the long shaft version on a custom mount so the prop will not drag when tipped up. In calm water I can easily run up to hull speed ~7mph and I use the motor a lot while trolling for salmon off the Oregon coast. With only one cylinder it is a bit noisier and has more vibration than a two cylinder engine. Mine includes a 5 amp generator that supplies enough 12 volt power for the chart plotter,VHS, and other house needs during long days of trolling. For maintenance I change the oil and clean the carburetor well every year.

Thanks Karl, for steering do you just use the tiller or did you hook up a tie bar?

I repowered to the Tohatsu 140hp in 2022 from a single Honda 70hp motor. I did not change out my hydraulic steering, and I left my Honda 9.9hp kicker on my 22 Cruiser because it fit on my current steering system. It has a rod that connects the linkage from my main motor hydraulic arm to my kicker motor.

I too would like to upgrade my kicker, but not sure how i would connect my steering. I instead opted to just keep my old kicker for now :(
