Transom Saver

Apparently does not work on Hondas.

We have been using the transom saver which attaches the lower unit to the trailer frame, with a heavy spring loaded arm on the Caracal for 3 years. This is the typical "transom saver". This tends to take more load off the transom, than the type pictured or the rubber over the center hydraulic cylinder (which we are using on the C Dory 22).

However this is also a good idea--

Be very careful with those. If you have power trim/tilt, the hard rubber kind that fits over the TT piston rod is VERY hard and can crush the top of your TT reservoir if you forget it's there and power the engine down. Don't ask me how I know.

I think I would stick to the trailer mounted transom saver. That doesnt look like it would take any load off of the transom as it attaches to the motor on both ends.
