Tuna

Great googly moogly!
You are in for the time of your life!!!
I wish I could afford a trip on that boat... But if I could I know I would just add more boat jewlery to the one I already have.

Please please please post up some pics and a story about your trip....
I would so love to be there with you....

Mr Fisherman,

I'm back! Yes, it was wild! :( I broke a rod which I had built for fishing steel line at Lake Tahoe and I'm mad at myself for even taking it. But, It was really working great until I became too confident, high sticked it and broke the top 1/3 off  Can't be replaced as it was a custom rod built with a Fisher blank. Fisher closed down their operation a few years ago :cry

I'll post some pictures later and talk about some things I learned along with Kite fishing.

Just got word from some friends down here that the LFT was WFO about 20 miles out of Depoe Bay (sp). Any of you guys get into them? Still waiting for them to come in close out of Avila, any week now.

That's not California talk either. LFT must be long fin or albacore, haven't seen that before. As for WFO, I've never been able to place the "F". If it means what I think, it just doesn't seem to fit. I see it used alot! :?

Yes, the bite was WFO fer LFT out of DB this WK :teeth
Got the first Tuna blood on Sea Lion. Added a bit of new jewlery too. Gotta get to canning in the morning and vac packing a few lions for later... Mmmmm Tuna!

I fished from 43 to 45 miles out. Got as far as 55 miles out one day. Love the new Suzuki! What a performer! 50 miles out... 10 and 12 miles here and there then about 7 hours of trolling at 9 ,ph and only used 50 gallons of fuel! Love it!

New rocket launcher designed by yours truely even worked. I think I would change it a bit but it sure worked great and it is very nice to get the rods out of the way.

Look for pics and stories soon...

Day 1, blown off. We were Salmon fishermen and we did great.
Day 2, first blood. 5 Albacore and 2 newbied warped for life!
Day 3, More blood, 15 Albies and two more newbies changes for life. One of them was my 11 year old son. This has to be one of my proudest mopments as he caught his first Tuna on a stand up rod, then caight another on a hand line. I am one proud Dad.
Day 3, 20 fish on a wide open bite!

An awsome week of fishing.
If you have never Tuna fished DO NOT GO! There is no turning back once you have had a taste. Besides, I need more fish to catch :wink

Way to go Ray-
I figured you might be in on the bite. Can't wait for them to come within range here. We typically get them mid August through October. One year we were able to go for them every weekend from Sept. to Dec. Always great to see the young'uns get them.

Thanks Roger,
Pics are posted in the Sea Lion Album including some impressive whale pics.
wound up with 7 cases of canned Tuna and a few lions to eat fresh. It never gets old, I could eat it for days.

Now to start boat repairs and do a better clean up. Time for a good scrub and a few coats of wax.

I need to figure out what happened to my depth finder as it is on the fritz. Need to replace the accessory bilge pump, fix the anchor roller, tighten the door hinges and a small list of other things. That offshore fishing is hard on equipment but I love it and can hardly wait to do it some more....

Never had a chance to tuna fishing...but will be going on my 1st trip in Jan05 shortly or right after the SBS & Factory gathering. Can't wait. Will be going out of the Venice, LA area... about a days drive from home here in Bama.
