Verticle Sliding Window in Cabin Door

Oh Great, John, just in time for winter!!! LOL It snowed here most all day.

But seriously, we look forward to our new improvement and, again, thank you for your kindness in arranging this for us all.

Super.............82 here today and if we were out on the lake were sure would have used the new window. Looking forward to it and thanks so much for the hard work. Just say the word with the shipping cost and we will get a check out to you immediately.

OK.... I did not see any answers to the glass bottom question.... so... I guess that means all these doors coming off...are just going to be other "neat things in the garage ya might need for yer boat one day..."

Or,,, your could put ironing board supports on it and have a great dockside table for feeding folks... Grin.

Sun roofs anyone???

Byrdman,

The doors are staying on, only the fixed windows will be removed, in order to add a window with sliding glass and screen.

Just a quick note to the Brats who ordered the sliding windows from DSG. I have them all packed and ready to send. However, a slight problem has come about. I received the bill today from DSG and the original shipping quote of $99.14 was bumped up to $293. I have the correspondence via email to prove that the charge was to be $99.14. Needless to say I was shocked to find that I was overcharged $195.00. I shot off an email to my contact at DSG and will, if necessary, challenge the charge made to my credit card.

I do not wish to have bad relations with DSG, but "it just ain't right". There was no misunderstanding. Again, I have all the correspondence saved in my emails. I'm just so pissed off at this point. I realize that this would increase everyone's contribution another $28 per person, but it just ain't right! I gave them two business days to get back with me and solve the problem before I challenge the $195.00 overcharge.

This will NOT stop me from sending the windows out, possibly by tomorrow (Saturday).

Thanks for the opportunity for letting me "sound off". I will give DSG the opportunity to respond. But like Michale Douglass said in that movie, "I ain't gonna take it anymore!"

As I have mentioned in a previous post, I am at great odds with Diamond Sea Glaze over their misquoted shipping, crating, and customs duties. I will take this up with them and will resolve it at my end, one way or another. I will give them the time to make it right. You guys need not worry. Again, I am NOT looking to squeeze anyone for any more money. But I have the emails to prove my story and will submit this documentation with my challenge to the credit card company if necessary. I will use the proper channels to challenge the additonal charges.

I hope that the windows will work out for each of you. I am going to attempt to put mine in tomorrow, if the weather holds up.

It has been a pleasure working on this little project with all of you. Let's think of something new to come up with.

Gool luck with the window installation guys...and keep us posted with pics. I think this is money well spent. I loved the opening windows on the aft wall of FreeByrd...particuarly if you are going to shoot a 5,000 Btu window unit thru it.

Foggy Dew: Man... I should have kept my stand. Folks on Lake Martin had grown to the look.. and loved to come inside out of the blistering heat and humidity.

Cool! Hey, I hope you mean that your miscalculation was just a math error and not you just saying you'll suck it up! If we all owe more money for the shipping, let us know! No biggie! You shouldn't have to put out any of your own money for something like that.

Check will be in the mail tomorrow.

Thanks...you da man

Patrick, don't need no AC...we've got noodles!

Hey John - Thank you very much! I don't even want one of those and I still appreciate the time and effort you put into this.

John, I'll call soon about my window. I will pay my $28 bucks, it's still a bargain. You should not have to eat that, I'm sure we all still would have bought a window if it'd been $28 more. Anyway, we all have forgotten how much it cost originally, or at least our wives have (hopefully).

Just got back from Maine and need to decompress from a 900 mile drive pulling a car on a trailer with my truck. Not fun down the 95 corridor but went uneventfully thank goodness!.

UPS delivered the window today. It was securely packed with a big red "FRAGILE" sticker. Yet upon inspection the molding which holds the frame in place was clearly bent. I've posted a photo to my album.
From its appearance I'd guess it may have been the window at the top or bottom of a stack of several that were secured with some sort binding/webbing. Perhaps the factory shipped it this way?
I was going to hold off installing it until later this winter but I'll give it to my mechanic whose pretty good at bending metal - well the aluminum aircraft variety - and I see what kind if fit and finish can be achieved.

Phil, UPS delivered ours today as well and it came in perfect shape. Sorry, that yours got damaged. Looks like it can easily be fixed.
Our old window came out easily and installled easily. They didn't supply the correct number of screws but an easy fix. It is a really good quality window and will help out a lot with summer heat while keeping the bugs out. It will also serve as ventilation in the winter with the Little Buddy going. Really glad we got it and once again, big thanks to John for all the work and great packaging!

My inspection of all the windows from the factory showed that they were in tact: no bending. They were stacked on each other in the original carton; they were not bound with strapping. Is there any evidence on the package that UPS handling caused the bend? This is critical if we want to persue a claim against UPS. If the package indicates rough handling, so, we can file a claim. I double wammy packed these puppies so there would be no damage. But in order to file a claim, the original packing must be preserved. Let me know if you wish to persue a claim against UPS.
It seems the more you tell these guys fragile, the more abuse they give. Even the shipping department at Office Depot where I shipped them commented that these were the best packed packages they have seen.

Keep me posted.

John,
Our window showed up today in great shape. I probably should've sent you an extra $28 for all the packing tape you used up! LOL Great packing job.

The window is a beauty and I know we'll like its functionality.

Thanks so much again for persuing this for us.

Kindest regards,
Al

Ok, how about the rest of you folks?? John is out $195+ bucks. I'm gonna give him the extra $28 I owe him when I pick up my window, not fair that he should have to foot that bill after doing all he had to get them for us. Have not seen anyone else chime in...

Charlie

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I do NOT want any extra money! Everything is square with DSG. Each person paid 292.06. There were 7 windows totalling 2044.42. The bill was 2053.47. We are square. It is a pleasure doing business with you all.

I somehow got ahead of myself and miscaculated after I got the final bill. DSG gave me an itemized bill that did not match the original. But after I scratched my head and compared the first and last bill, pulled out the old caculator, it all works out. I apologize to everyone if I did not make this clear.

I just hope everyone is happy with the windows and feel bad that one was slightly damaged. (could the trim ring on the old window be used?)
