Thanks. I thought it was a way to turn this into a win-win situation by making the exchange of information as efficient as possible. It would save whoever ends up representing the factory here on C-Brats time by putting everything they need to look at in one place, and C-Brats would have a specific place to voice their concerns knowing that somebody at the factory was actually going to read what they wrote. If we each contact the factory rep individually by email, others on the forum don’t get the benefit (knowledge) of that exchange and the factory wastes time answering the same questions multiple times.

I agree with the first one - be nice.

But I never let facts get in the way of the truth, or a good story.
And as far as no bitching ....... its called critical review.

As the father time of the site and a many-times C-Dory owner (8 now), it seems to me it's time NOW to rest on our oars and let the dust settle.

The C Dory management folks are not stupid - and I'm certain that it isn't their intent to ignore former owners. There are +/- 2,000 C Dory lovers on this site - and there is no sales force anywhere that is better than satisfied customers.

It's very obvious that they are going through a critical re-organization time right now - new boat lines, new management personal, new company direction. They do listen - and perhaps not to the satisfaction of all of us, but things will change - and must change.

Cool stool, eh?

I think there is a very high % of us 22' owners that either live far enough from the factory site or are so satisfied with what we have now that Factory interest in this site is of little interest to us. On the other hand should the Factory be interested in us and our opinions? They are and will be proven to be fools if they aren't. Their past track record is superb, so even with all the changes, I think the ones who do care have little to worry about, other than the lack of being able to bring your boat there to have special work performed and that extremely close personal relationshiip that some of you enjoyed.

This site and the wonderful peole who make it up is what we would have a hard time doing without.

There are 2 dealers in the PNW that know and care about C-Dorys. EQ and Kitsap, and they can do any service needed on the boats. Then there is another one that had a very lack-luster C-Dory at the 2011 SBS. The factory needs to be doing 2 things, building boats, and partnering with the dealers to advertise that they are in deed, building and selling boats for people to buy.

We know about the history with EQ, but Les and Cathy know more about C-Dorys than most any 10 owners put together, and they treated people right. They also participated here on the site. Kitsap Marine has treated folks right too, and Matt participates here frequently. (Marc at Wefings does the same and though he is on the opposite corner of the country, we all know he treats folks right too, and they keep coming back.) If the factory was sticking to building boats, good boats, those dealers could sell them, for them and the C-Dory story would continue, maybe even without all the drama. There are still people buying boats --case in point -- the Rangers. There are folks who are still looking for the niche boat, C-Dory, but without the factory doing their job (build and promote) those folks who want a new boat will be looking at something else because they won't even know that C-Dorys exist.

Are we doing our part? I think some are, and I hope more will, but what I really hope is that the factory will take a good long look at the resource here, acknowledge and utilize the Brats, as well as doing their 2 things. It would be a symbiotic relationship.

Let's talk about the elephant in the room. I'm afraid Master Marine is a lost cause. I bought my Tom Cat there, and while they have a decent sales and service organization, they totally lack the passion that Les/Kathy, Matt and Marc bring to the table. As long as the factory keeps Master Marine as the primary dealer in this important corner of the PNW we are not going to see much change on the mainland side of the Bellingham-Tacoma corridor -- a huge, huge potential market for C-Dory. We got a glimpse of that failed philosophy at the SBS.

I was in stealth mode Friday afternoon at the SBS while standing next to the CD22 listening to a sales pitch. I would not have bought a boat based on that presentation. I jumped in after the salesman said something about burning 3 gal/hr at cruise.

It has been a LONG time since I had anything good to say about the various companies that have traded the C-Dory name. I had a long conversation with Tom Latham back in the day. In terms of dealers I would not return to my dealer (Long Island Yacht Sales) if they were giving away boats. I would definitely go to one of the trusted dealers such as Wefings (my coast).

I will say the current factory ownership has made more of an effort to utilize the C-Brat's more than any of the other guys in the last 4 years or so. I commend them for that and I think they will only see upside to the effort.
