M and I encountered a similiar "home made" boat just inside of Hat (Gedney) Island last summer. It appeared to be a Hoby cat hull with a 2X4/plywood "house" on it, pushed by a small outboard. Looked illegal as hell and about as sea-worthy as a brick w/ plexi glass "windows". It looked like something one would find in a third world slum. But there it was...we commented on how the guy driving it must not give a damn.

When first had my 22, we had moorage for a brief period of time in Lake Union. That first summer I was there, there was someone who had constructed a floating platform with a nice table on it and chairs for 4 people. They had a little trolling motor (I can't remember if it was electric or a 2hp Honda). On a few very calm evenings, I saw them on Lake Union with a fully set table - table cloth, dishes, wine glasses etc and 2 couples very nicely dressed just out for a "dinner cruise". I have no idea who these people were or whether they still do that but the image of the "bass boat" posted by Phil reminded me of that interesting craft.
