wipers

Has anyone tried to replace their windshield wipers on any venture or cape cruiser 23 boats as of yet . I've taken off the port wiper took it to a auto store no luck . they are 11 1/2 in. long The wipers for cars seem to be a little wider 7mm So maybe these are 6mm? wide.Does anyone know where to pick the wipers up. i'm looking at the 09 Defender booklet page 144 . Does anyone have a part number? thanks.

I cannot specifically comment on the Venture wipers, but they all use "standard" components. I have adapted boat wipers to use auto wiper blades. The auto blades are cheaper--and often much cheaper. The adaptation may be changing the part of the arm which the wiper goes on. It may be to pull adapt refills to fit the "rails" which hold the rubber part on the wiper blade.

Dr. Bob I tried that the blades are a little thicker 7mm vs maybe 6mm So maybe i should open the wiper arm a little to fit the auto blade on. The venture cape cruiser uses a 11 1/2 in wiper like old VW blades . I'm hoping some of the c-brats have similar problem and can give me a part number for DEfender or west marine ? thanks again

To go one step further than Bob, I bought a whole new wiper, not just the blade. They fit and work as good or better than the "marine" blades. Make sure you get the plastic wipers, so they don't rust.

Also, at Auto Zone, they only have the fancy (yes, expensive) blades on display. If you need the regular blades, you have to ask at the counter. Remember to measure, and I got a longer blade and trimmed ~1/2 inch off. Has worked great for a year now.

I took off the blade arm went around to auto repair stores could not find any replacements ,So i went to WM and bought the AFI 11 s/s part num 33004 These will fit the AFI 2000 wiper motors .They are very expensive $25 ea.
So now my Quest is to find replacement blades that will fit those 33004 parts so next time it will not cost an arm and leg for replacements

are your wipers elec or are they manual that makes a difference Most wiper blades you can buy at auto stores are 7mm wide (blades) the AFI are about 5mm to 6mm so unless you bend the blade holder they will not work we tried many times . Another way would be to use another blade holder and attach the windshield pivot arm with a new skrew or rivet might try this i guess i should post some pictures

Not sure who you are asking but I am not near my boat and never actually measured the blades but I pulled up to NAPA in Philomath as I was driving over to the coast and they replaced the inserts, not the arms themselves. Wasn't any problem at all. Probably more difficult if you wanted to replace the arms.

please let me know what part number or what kind ?I guess the guys down here in Naples Fl. have less time to try to figure it out They just said it's a boat part go to West Marine

I replaced the blades on my 1990 C-Dory 22' Cruiser just this morning. I have the manual operation wipers. I found Trico 47-800 Break-To-Fit Wiper Blade Refills at Checker Auto. They are 8 mm. Cost was just under $9.00. I have enough rubber left over to replace them another time.

checking on the 23 Venture in our showroom, I would venture (hah!) that you want west marine part number 250530.

I don't believe you can replace just the rubber insert, but rather the whole blade.

I'm a little confused. The West Marine price for that P/N250530 is an 11" curved for $26. The arm on the AFI wiper arms is a standard straight blade, which is a common end. As a matter of fact, my 63 Chevvy uses that same end.

So why not go to NAPA and ask for a 12" complete wiper blade. You could call ahead and see if they have one, or order it over the internet: 12" NAPA Wiper Blade . This is close to a 11 1/2" blade and I know an extra inch was welcome on the C-25 (no pun intended.) $14. They also have 11" blades.

The C-25 also has pantographic wipers, which are great. The attachment is the same. What I'm confused about is why one would want to spent $25/wiper instead of <$15 at NAPA.

I've also found out that in small towns, such as Munising, Mi, the NAPA store also has a great stock of boat parts. Couldn't find a trailer bow roller at the local boat dealers, NAPA gave me a choice of two different kinds.

I guess I will be checking my Napa stores for replacements thanks now I have 2 new sets and 2 old sets that need the rubber blade inserts

Hi Jim- We had to replace our wipers in Virginia and the marina didn't carry them.My memory is a little fuzzy but we went to autozone or some other chain and to my surprise they had the the replacement wipers. Every once in a while you get lucky. We're dusting off the boat and getting back into boating mode.I'm trying to grease my Honda 135 outboard and can"t seem to get to all the grease fittings with my flexible hose.Any suggestions out there?

HI guys hope all is well . I have a Yamaha I will have to look at the fittings I haven't done that as of yet .I just change my lower unit oil and eng. oil every 100 hrs or so haven't done the grease fittings yet every thing works no binding I will look at this tomorrow and bring my grease gun down to the boat

Simplicity, I hope I can help, because I really felt dumb when I found the solution to that problem.

Just turn the engine to port or starboard (actually, I use left or right, but I'm trying to impress,) until the zerk fittings on the horizontal tilt bar are accessible. For the fittings on the vertical shaft, tilt the motor up until you can reach them. You know, I even got 90 deg metric stainless zerk fittings and installed them. Then discovered that I still couldn't reach them.

Hope that solves your problem. For Gods sake, don't undo the hydraulic lines.

Boris

Thanks Boris! This isn't an excuse but when I had the boat serviced by a mechanic he told me that he couldn't grease those fittings because he didn't have a 90 degree grease gun. Work smarter not harder. Thanks again.
