    Honda Carbureted Motor Opinions?

We have two carbureted 2006 Honda 40's on our 22 with about 1150 hours. Before longer term storage, i.e. 3-4 months, we run them dry, with sea foam in the fuel, drain the carburetor bowls and use blue stabil in the fuel. Just one carburetor needed a little work at about 800 hours. We are careful...

    2006 C-22 question

We have a 2006 with nearly 1150 hours on the engines and have had no problems with the boat. Yes that was the period when C-Dory decided to really ramp up production and forced small dealers out of carrying the boats because the factory demanded they have several on the floor and mom-pop dealers...

Magnetic vs True North for Electronic Nav Instrument Setting

Harv, I like the true north on the radio and magnetic on the plotter so when my chart indicates an area of local magnetic disturbance I can glance up to see any effect, nothing critical, other than that No real reason, just what I am used to.

Magnetic vs True North for Electronic Nav Instrument Setting

Our chartplotter is set to display magnetic north, the radio is set to display true north, that allows me a quick verification of declination. I think either will work fine, just depends on what you get used to.I'm sure there is some official way to go though. And, we use course-up display on...

    Keel damage

How wide is the gouge, and how deep all along its length? If it is not too wide or deep you may be able to use epoxy, you can color it to match the hull. Best of course would be reglassing depending on how deep of course. Pictures would help. I had a similar gouge from Lake Powell, not an inch...

I'd contact Diamond Sea Glaze. If anybody would know it'd be them. They are just outside of Vancouver and have been extremely helpful.

    Trim tanks

I have mixed feelings about the blunt comments, mine included. I guess I view them not so much as just carping but cautionary advice to a potential buyer who looks on this site. Ugly is one thing, safety is another. Were I to buy that boat the first thing I'd do is remove the "trim tanks" and...

    Trim tanks

And, I wonder if the owner drilled holes in the transom at waterline or below to attach those ugly things? Bet he did, wouldn't that be fun to deal with. And it looks like they extend below the hull and are just waiting to hit something. I'm sure the owner was sure he had this great idea. Some...

    New to the c-brat family.

Welcome! Enjoy your new boat. Those who have 16's are the most fanatical Brats of all. Friday Harbor is May 16-17-18. Launching from Cornet Bay, Anacortes or Bellingham makes it easy and you would almost surely find other Brats to convoy with for your first big trip. Come to FH by ferry if not...

    05/16 - 05/18 - Friday Harbor 2014

Several people always head out to fish. There are no rules about what to do at fh. Just do whatever floats your boat. Check with somebody like Starcraft Tom, salmon fisher, or Roger for specifics (I'm totally illiterate when it comes to fishing).

What did I do wrong? What should I do in the future?

First, you did the right thing to elect to slow down and go behind the ship. They are often going much faster than they seem to be. Good choice. I agree that slowing down more when you approached the wake would have been helpful. 5-7kts would give you enough speed for steerage and let you just...

Switch from Directv to Comcast xfinity?

Thanks all, its looking like a choice between bad and worse. Directv does not offer bundling where we live so we get three bills, TV, internet, and phone. Comcast will bundle but from the large majority of information I've been able to get on-line and through here we might not want to willingly...

Hating the Surge Brakes on King Trailer

Pat, The previous comments about a solenoid are probably a good guide. The solenoids seem to go bad from time to time, we've replaced ours 2-3 times. They are very easy to replace, just a single connection, they are connected to your truck's backup circuit and as Sunbeam said, usually have a...

getting anchor set up for use.

You might consider walking the docks in local marinas and seeing what boats have what anchors. Kind of an unofficial way to see what most folks around here think works. My own recollection is Bruce/Plow about even, some CQR on older big boats and a few Danforths. Mansons are becoming more common...

Backup kicker for C-Dory 22 with twin 50hp Yamaha

I've never heard of anyone doing that. I suppose you could if you could find the room. We have twin 40's and consider that we have a 40HP backup whenever we need it. From my perspective the potential for emergency use after both main engines failed would be extremely remote.
