    Sam's Big Adventure

Sam, I enjoyed the latest posts that you made to your blog. Sounds like you got some good weather for your Dad's visit. The pictures of the bears "playing" are amazing. I will be interested in how the prop change works out. Keep the great posts coming.

    Flight of the Blue Eagle

Have a great trip! I'd love to do that run sometime. I'll be following your posts.

    Greetings...

Congratulations on the new boat! They are great boats for roaming and adventure. Hope you enjoy yours as much as we do ours! Welcome!

    Another New C-Dory Owner

Welcome from another sailor tempted to the dark side by a C-Dory. Interesting name. Are you suggesting that the C-Dory is the tenth muse of boats? :D Hope she brings you the inspiration you're looking for along with the adventure and fun that you are sure to get. What do y'all write?

1/2 ton tow vehicle fo 25?

My 1500 Chevy Suburban isn't a Chrysler/Dodge, and it doesn't have a Hemi, :D but it pulls my 26 Venture just fine. In my case, the difference in the ride of a 2500 for a daily driver led me to the decision to go with the 1500. I don't trail a lot--probably 10K to 15K miles in the last three...

    BYRDMAN Pass-n-Gas on Great Loop

Just watched you pass by the house. I didn't have the handheld handy to hail you. What a beautiful day for a cruise! A dolphin jumped right in front of your boat. Nice trawler, definitely not a C-Dory... Have a safe trip.

    iPad and NOAA BookletCharts

I use DropBox on all of my machines, too. That is a good alternative to saving pdf files in the iBooks library. I like the iBooks library from an organization perspective. Having the charts in folders in DropBox also works well. DropBox is nice if you use multiple machines to keep files...

    iPad and NOAA BookletCharts

Dick, I tried the NOAA Booklet chart that I mentioned above on my iPad 1. The first two times that I tried to download and open it, the Safari browser crashed as you and Bob described. The third time, it opened with no problem. I was able to tap the screen to display the "open in iBooks" button...

    iPad and NOAA BookletCharts

Dick, I run Navimatics, not Navionics. My experience has been good. My iPad 1 is a 3G with GPS. The charts are good and the Active Captain integration is a plus. I have run the Navimatics app since it was introduced and have been really happy with it.

    iPad and NOAA BookletCharts

Dick, I loaded the 11385 Booklet Chart (West Bay to Santa Rosa Sound) on my iPad and was able to browse and read it fine. I have a third-generation iPad with the fast processor and retina display, but I'm not sure why that would matter. I'll try it later on my iPad 1 to see if I get the same...

    refrigerator on 26' C-Dory

When I leave mine set on about 3, it will run all night and the batteries will still start the motor in the morning. I don't know if it is the exact same model. If you switch the battery switch so that you are only running the refrig off of one battery, you can then switch to the other for...

Smart Phone vs Tablet Whats your choice?

I use both an iPhone and an iPad on board. I use the iPad to run Navmatics charts (with integrated Active Captain). I use the iPad for small scale situation awareness while running a large scale on my Garmin plotter as primary navigation (the Garmin is a smaller screen). I, too, would not have a...

Red River Shreveport, LA. To Natchitoches, LA.

I always wanted to run that stretch of the Red River when we lived in Shreveport, but didn't have the chance. We always enjoyed visiting Natchitoches, it is a charming old town. Your post brought back good memories of that area. Hope y'all are doing well.

    C-Dory Sightings

Saw what appeared to be a 22 on the Santa Rosa Sound in the panhandle of Florida this afternoon. It was slowly heading south out of the channel near marker 96 just west of Juana's Pagodas on Navarre Beach. It was too far away from the house for me to make out the color or name. Anyone know who...

    Destinations near Carrabelle, FL ?

We enjoy running up the Apalachicola River. You can take the western jog on the Jackson River over to Lake Wimico, or keep going north on the Apalachicola. There is a jog off to the east on the St. Marks River (in theory you can cut back down the St. marks to Apalachicola Bay, but I won't try it...

FLIR First Mate MS 224 review

Interesting review Bob. I have been lusting after a FLIR for some time, too. Please post an update on whether it will work through the Diamond Sea Glaze glass; I agree with you, it probably won't. Nine Hz would be a little slow on the update for video, but I can't think of why there would be a...

    Thisaway

Congratulations on the CD22 Bob! Sounds like a great boat for your current use. I told Cindi that I thought you were thinking about another C-Dory after our cruise with you at the Gulf Coast gathering. Next time we are over that way we would like to cruise up and check it out (if we can get in...

    10/21 - 10/23 - 5th Annual Gulf Coast Gathering

The 5th--almost annual--Gulf Coast Gathering was a great success. Cindi and I had a wonderful time. We met a lot of good people, Brats, Tug Nuts, and hopefully Brats/Tug Nuts to be. The food, entertainment, and boating were fantastic. Dr. Bob took a bunch of pictures; I hope he will post them...
