06/12 - 06/14 - Langley, WA, Cruise

The C-Dawg crew should be in Langley Friday evening. We're up for a dining out experience that night and the potluck Saturday. We'll be bringing a fruit pizza for the potluck.

Anybody doing any fishing? I'm planning on fishing the reef by Hat Island Saturday morn.

Tom, trust me on the clams and mussels. However, you need to be blindfolded on your way out to the before mentioned area.

I won't be able to attend as I am teaching a two day on-the-water power boating class that week-end. For pay, I might add.

I will miss the clams and mussels however. Oh yeah and the comraderie also.

Yeah, I was planning on fishing for lings on the reef. Not being familiar with that area I didn't know if fishing the bubble for a couple hours was worth it.

I have never gotten a fish from the bubble so I can't say. There are some ( few) that do well there and others (many) that never hook a fish there. Its a really early before sunrise fishery.

I spoke with harbormaster Rick Brewer, who said C-Dock is reserved for C-Brats. (He didn't call us brats, but I will.)

C-Dock is is the 100-foot dock closest to shore. We'll have both sides of the dock, which includes power and water. It's the widest dock, Rick said, allowing for a dockside party, potluck, orchestral recital, charades or other theatrics delegates might instigate.

If we want a Friday dining spot with a bar and a view, he suggests we call Tim or Jon at the Edgecliff Bar & Grill (360)221-8899. I believe that's the place just above the marina. No promises, but a call would place us in better position to score a few Friday tables. What do you think?

WooHoo,

I just got off the phone with the Admiral and she says we should sign up for this shindig! So I guess we'll be seeing all you brats on Friday. I think we'll call the restaurant and make reservations as well.

Brock, do I still need to email the harbormaster for dock space?

C-Dawg, I might have to follow you out to your lingcod spots.

See you soon!

I will be there Friday and Saturday, if all goes well. Looking forward to seeing you guys and gals again and visiting Langley . Even though I probably won't be around for the potluck on Saturday, I plan on bringing some paper cups, paper plates, soft drinks, and my not quite world famous cucumber salad!

We will being coming Saturday morning from Everett in Gizmo, 16 footer. I left a message and e-mail with Rick at Langley, he has not responded yet. There is just the two of us and the dog.

Steve

We will also plan on joining this group.

As likely the last "Fluid Marine" C-Dory CBGT and the site of the original CBGT - as per earlier posters - this one is just too good to miss.

I phoned Harbormaster Rick Brewer w/ our intentions to show up on Saturday.

Tanya made Chili which we will be bringing for the Saturday night pot-luck. Take care and looking forward to seeing everybody.

Be safe,
Dan & Tanya Denver

Hey Steve, Dan and Marty, that's super that you three can join us for a day and more. I think you'll have fun.

Peter, glad you and your bride can attend as well. It was nice seeing you two weeks ago at Deer Harbor. That was a beautiful day, and evening. I don't think it's necessary you email the harbormaster. Rick expects eight to 10 boats, and space will be available. I think we can just pay when we arrive.

I also made reservations for about a dozen Brats at the aforementioned Edgecliff Bar&Grill. We're set for 5:30 p.m. Friday, smack dab in the middle of happy hour. More people can fit, too, and I'll call to cancel if folks aren't interested.

Lastly, I've ordered a dose of sprinkles for y'all this weekend because I'm concerned about your diets. I just don't think you're getting enough rain.

OK, the low tide on Saturday is around 3:15 p.m. based on Penn Cove. Now where the heck is Roger Johnson?? What are the name and coordinates of that DNR beach where we get the clams and mussels?? Anybody else know?

OK, Roger just got back to me on finding the DNR beach for the clams and mussels! Tide is at about 3:15 pm tomorrow, like I said. Who is going to bring shovels and buckets?

At the last minute I had to work this weekend. I was really looking forward to this.

I hope you all have a ton a Fun up there. Sorry that I missed it.

Holy Mackeral-What a good bunch and nice place! Thanks for the great time, the muffin and juice, and all the help getting Lizzie "shoved off". Saw some more whale spouts on the way back to Everett. Just as I was about to turn into the marina I spotted "GIZMO" on her way over to join you all at Langley. Hope to see you next month at the Bellingham Bash.

Patty here. Tell them, Pat......(he will). Pat's washing the boat now and has taken everything off. I took a little snooze due to lack of snoozability last night. Lovely weekend, wonderful friends, incredible harbormaster, beautiful boats, and a super potluck. Everything I have come to expect in a CBGT. A special thanks to the crew of Gizmo for helping with the mussel gathering. We were beginning to feel like the Little Red Hen. You done good, Brock. (Fun cruising back with you.)

Crap. I hate it when she's right. $349 for the Garmin 440S - but I don't mind saving the $26 more I could have sworn we had spent! This is a TERRIFIC little GPS for our needs on Crabby Lou, the built-in mapping is all we need for around here, that's for sure. Highly recommended!

Marty - we couldn't get there until Saturday morning, sorry we missed you, we could have compared notes on Cruisers and Anglers (he ducks!).

Harbormaster Rick Brewer asked me to pass along a request for any of us to tell them what they might have done better - I for one can not think of a single thing!

Just like Patty said, thanks to Steve and Cindy on Gizmo for helping with the mussel gathering (I could tell you all where the beach is, but then Roger would have to kill me). Man those mussels were tasty! In fact everything at the potluck was great.

Robbi - we owe you a new little yellow air mattress, I guess vinyl and Mr. Heater Buddy do not mix...

Just another fabulous CBGT in the books - thanks Brock, we missed Friday but the spot, the potluck and the Sunday breakfast at Braeburn were all terrific! Will have some pix posted soon!

So....did the Langley Fire Department have to respond?.....or did the melting vinyl smell alert you in time?

I figured that you were going to have an exciting weekend when I saw the U.S. Navy superlarge patrol boat with the 10 Navy Patrolmen at the launch ramp as you were getting underway.

Like I told you Saturday morning, "I figured when I saw the heavy Navy presence at the ramp, that you must be nearby and I quickly looked down at the docks and there you were"....

It was great to see you there and I asked Mac if he saw you, and he said he did and tried to get your attention but to no avail. (However, he wasn't in his Ranger Tug).

I sure did hate missing this CBGT, but too many things to do and so little time. Additionally, I had to work today.
